Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sony Vaio Problem

    Hi
A friend of mine has a Sony Vaio laptop, running Windows 7.
When he goes to start up, the screen gives a flash or two and then nothing. The power light and battery light are still lighting on it, even after plugging it out and taking the battery out.
The hard drive seems to go to spin and then stops, then repeats every 10 seconds or so.
Just wondering has anybody come across this sort of problem before? I am hoping that it is not a motherboard problem but I am fearful that it could be.

The second you turn it on, press F2 key repeated until the Bios screen comes up. There should be a diagnostics menu you can test the hard disk with.

(it may be F1 or F3 keys with some Sony)

Have you got a bootable CD/DVD in the drive ? - try with and without any disc.
