Have we a release date on that MadGibbs release?

I've been doing homework on Gibbs lately and am becoming a big fan.

March 18th is the release date.

Some folk on here where wondering what Kurious was up to these days....well he's making great tracks like this

There is something in this track that is sorely missing from hip hop these days. Scratching.

I thought he was gone completely off the radar! Nice to hear he's still about, "I'm kurious" was one of my favourite tunes for a good while

I got the first Kurious album on cassette. As soon as I got a CD player, the first time I seen it available on CD, I snapped it up.
    I wore out the tape.

Rookie move, you need to listen to the Breathtaking Trip EP first, then the LP.
This is not a bad thing :)

Can't seem to find the EP, do you have a link for it?

Alexander Spit is dropping an album of instrumentals tomorrow 'Lady Killing in America'

New Ice Cube from his album coming out May 13th.
Song for the 1st minute is another song off the album. Liking both of em but need a few more listens. No expectations for the album though.

New track by Playdough Feat. Koncept

Edit. D'oh! Just realised this was released last year. Its a new video anyways!

Oxymoron will be streaming on the Hot97 website at 3pm EST. 8pm over here.

    www.Hot97.com/live

Edit: Not a stream really. Q sitting down with Rosenberg and a crowd and they are playing the tracks. Sound quality is CDQ though. I'd say there will be a low quality leak out later.

Edit 2: No new tracks so far. It's probably going to end up being all the tracks that are already out. ****ing Hot97..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭HighClass

One good thing came from the Hot97 listening session. New Q track featuring Raekwon. Clean version only though.

Cover & tracklist for Vince Stapes new project is out as well. Looks promising.

I'm probably the only one that is not really digging what I've heard from the Schoolboy Q album. It's OK, but wouldn't be my cup of bovril. I also dont like how the Illusions beat was filled for the Blind Threats track, leave a classic beat alone.

The Vince Staples album does look promising based on the production credits.

Snippets from Rick Ross' new album. Never been the biggest fan of his, he has plenty of bangers though, but this ain't sounding half bad as far as mainstream hip hop albums go.

Pretty f*cking good, Scoops production is getting better and better.
I just also discovered that he is the son of Frost, a rapper that was kinda popular years ago.

Mac Lethal dropping another mental fast rap

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭HighClass

Oxy leaked. Was on the fence after the first couple tracks but really got into it at Hoover Street, track 5. Prescription/Oxymoron is worth the price of the album on it's own, great track! Tyler the Creator & Kurupt shouldn't work but it does. One of Tyler's better beats as well!

Really liking Cilvia, using it as a stop-gap until Oxymoron releases but it is a really good album (regardless of what TDEs marketing calls it).

Cilvia is alot better than I expected. I thought it would be filler material that didn't make an album, but it sounds better than alot of albums I've heard recently.

Shot You Down is my favourite track in absolutely ages. Can't stop myself from bopping along to that hook.

He is pretty much calling it an album, or very reluctantly a demo in his interviews.

It is a really really good album.

I've been a fan of Blueprint for a long time now, and delighted to hear that he is putting out a new album on April 22nd. It's called Respect the Architect.

Not on Rhymesayers this time, being released on his own Weightless Records label.

Excellent, I'll look forward to that!

First release from the new Cunninlynguists Strange Journey Vol. 3.

    https://soundcloud.com/cunninlynguists/in-the-city-f-zumbi-of-zion-i

Released on my Birthday too :)

"The first ever truly crowd-sourced record now has an official release date as well. Not happy simply "crowd-funding" a release via Kickstarter like so many other artists, Deacon The Villain, Natti & Kno asked their fans for no money -- instead they spent a year interacting with fans via social media & allowing them to vote on guest artists, suggest song concepts, letting them peek in on studio sessions & make decisions on album artwork. CL will begin taking pre-orders on March 24th via their website with an official release date of April 1st. "

Anyone who likes Mos Def/Yasiin Bey and Marvin Gaye should be getting this.
I was expecting something sloppy when I first heard about it, but it's put together excellently.

After a fair few spins of oxymoran , imo its lived up to the hype. Q's an out and out gangsta rapper , a dying bread at least the genuine ones.

The track gravy is that just a bonus ? its not on the spotify version anyway.

Better album than gkmc for me but there two different animals, Q's music is just what i can only describe as harder.

The production on the new Rick Ross LP is something serious!

Also, one of the most random collabs I heard in awhile, Snoop + Madlib

Not really feeling the Schoolboy Q album, to be honest. Maybe it's just been hyped so much, but it's fairly formulaic, I think.

Earlier in the thread it was noted that TDE will be having 6 releases this year.
    So far we've had:
    Isaiah Rashad
    Schoolboy Q

    Next up is Ab Soul

    The remaining 3 are
    SZA
    Isaiah Rashad
    Kendrick in September
    Black Hippy album

That's seven by my count. Although the Black Hippy onw may be just speculation, but complex announced Sept for Lamar.

Grieves, Blueprint and Atmosphere. It's gonna be a good couple months!

Looks like A$AP Rockys next project is going to be an instrumental tape. Here's a trailer for the first video off it, dropping 6pm EST so 11pm over here.

    http://instagram.com/p/lF55vyBa0D/

Really interested how this is going to sound. Rockys production has arguably been the best thing about his tracks, A$AP Yams picks all the beats for him as far as I know. It could turn out great or it could be like Cudi all over again.

The prospect of a new Atmosphere album is exciting, but, that new track aint nothing new really. More west coasty sounding from Ant, and like the cuts at the end, but Sluggo's story telling needs a kick in the backyard.

The track didn't blow me away or aything but its decent enough. Interested to hear the song "Kanye West" on the album.

Do you know anything about the "seandaley" user on youtube? Seen him post on a few videos but I'm not sure if it's legit or not but most people seem to respond as though it is. Something fishy about it to me. Anyways, someone said that this track was about Murs and the user on youtube says it's not.

The chances of Pinata leaking are quite high.

A competition was run early in LA featuring a pinata.
There is a zebra piñata hanging from a tree on the west side of Echo Park Lake. It contains an advance copy of Freddie Gibbs & Madlib’s Piñata album, candy, and other mysterious objects. There’s a stick on the ground below the piñata. First person to get there and beat the thing open gets to keep whatever falls out. Have fun, take a photo, and please clean up after yourself.

It was won by this guy:

I wonder will he do it?
