Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All
I've put in Kingspan SC400 flat panels.

What is the best way to maximise the effectiveness of the panels. When should the oil heating be put on. Finding that the hot water run out.

Currently oil on for 40 mins in the evening.

    Thanks

You should just consider the solar panel input as preheating of the water and continue to heat the cylinder with the oil fired /solid fuel/immersion
coils. Its only from say May to August inclusive that the solar system, especially, a flat plate array, can sustain 60C in the cylinder, if you are happy to operate with a water temperature of 45C then the solar system may supply your needs from May to September, but it is supposed to be heated to 60C, once a week, or is it daily? for health reasons.
You are only running your oil fired system for 40 mins/day, have you got solid fuel heating as well?, anf if so have you got another coil (3 in all) in the hot water cylinder?.
