So a great idea was suggested by nozzferrhhatoo in the off topic chat thread to start a craft thread for 2-4 (ish) year olds.

I'll edit this post as we go along as I'm sure there's loads of bits I've missed!

    Craft box essentials:

*White & coloured paper, A4 (and other sizes if you come across them cheaply!)
    *PVA glue
    *Safety scissors
    *Sellotape
    *Stapler
*Finger paint/ toxic free paint & paint brushes/ rollers
*Jars/ plastic containers for paint and water
    *Crayons, colouring pencils, washable markers
    *Crepe paper
    *Glitter
    *Pipe cleaners
*Ends of string/ wool/ twine etc
    *Toilet/ kitchen roll cardboards
    *Dried beans/ barley/ rice
*Empty 500ml plastic bottles (water bottles etc)
    *cotton wool
    *cotton buds/ Q tips

Week 1 project: Cotton bud/ Q tip snowflake

    (Pictures to be added!)

    Materials needed:

    10 cotton buds/ Q tips,
    White or blue A4 paper,
Blue and white paint and a paint brush,
    Cotton wool (optional)
    PVA glue,
Glitter (wintry colours, blue, silver) (optional).
    Safey scissors (not essential)

    Directions:

    1. Paint a snowy background in white and blue paint on the sheet of paper.
    2. Sprinkle glitter on to the wet paint.
    3. Spread glue along 4 of the cotton buds/ Q tips and place them on the paper in the shape of a cross.
    4. Break (or cut with scissors) 2 of the cotton buds/ Q tips in half and spread glue on them. Place them at 45 degree angles between the arms of the cross, with the bud pointing out from the centre of the cross.
    5. Break/ cut the remaining cotton buds/ Q tips in half and one at a time spread glue on them and place them half way up the long arms of the cross as if they were the arms of a stick man (cotton bud parts pointing up).
    6. Spread some glue on the empty spaces of the paper and stick cotton wool (either pulled or in little 'snow flakes') to the paper.
