plus i think ac/dc could be a big shout for slane as theyre doing their 40year anniversary tour this year

No confirmatiin from.anywhere. afaik that ac/dc are touring though.. at least we know the foos are..
Rumours from Green Day sites that a Dookie/American Idiot tour is in the works after the Soundwave tour, but no confirmation.. much like ac/dc

not sure if its reliable but.. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/acdc-confirm-tour-2014-6461266

if true theyd surely be a serious contender for slane

Green Day are due to go on hiatus after Soundwave. They already celebrated Dookie by playing it in full at Brixton (I was there it was awesome), reading and Leeds

For American Idiot, it's rumoured they will finally release the making of documentary of that album which has been in production limbo for the last 10 years

I can't see why not. They are actively posting on Facebook as far as I remember, pushing POD gigs and the like.

Think there may have been a 'To be announced in 2014' sort of post before Christmas.

Would be gutted if it didn,t go ahead, great little festival.

MCD are running all the IMMA gigs announced so far, last year POD did them all, including Forbidden Fruit, so it's possible that MCD have some sort of exclusivity deal on the site this year.
Will see in the next couple of months I suppose.

On the hiatus, on instagrqm around fforeverly time, Mike said.'don't believe everything you read ;)'
Just saw it rumoured, admittedly unlikely.

Has Oxegen as a thing just been scrapped?

    OXEGEN
Due to high demand we are pleased to announce that Hardwell has now added another Irish date to his I am Hardwell world tour. He will be performing at the The O2 Dublin on Friday 7th February.

This new date to his tour schedule follows the sell-out success of his date in Belfast. Tickets go on general sale 9am Saturday 18th January

Might not been anything but could be a hint or they knew the Oxegen fanbase would go to this gig to help promote it

Is it possible for QOTSA to play at Vital or will they play at EP instead?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 11,382 Mod ✭✭✭✭lordgoat

I deleted a few off topic posts. Keep it to upcoming gigs and speculation for the most part. Posts about gigs of yesteryear will be removed.

Prince was all set to play Kilmainham last june but the gig was pulled for some reason so i'd like to see him this year. Something to think about is MCD seem to have this venue for this summer so Aiken may have to switch it to somewhere else. Regardless I expect to see the purple one somewhere this year in Ireland.

Could see Queens and Placebo doing EP

With Croker booked up I think it's a safe bet U2 will do 3-5 gigs at the Aviva this summer. Would be good to see them launch their new album with a show at the O2 though.

How is it a safe bet? Can see them just waiting for next year to do their usual 3 night stint in Croker

Hoping its JT for the unknown artist, but cant see it after last year sadly.

Quite annoying that Justin Timberlake's Phoenix last year was only announced in early May for the July concert. By then concert goers would have bought their tickets for festivals and major summer concerts such as Robbie, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Eminem, etc. Also the tickets were dearer than a lot of the other concerts on last summer, therefore making the concert harder to sell out.

Aww, well love Coldplay and Rihanna so not too bad.

I think The Killers and Mumford & Sons went on sale in March last year and JT tix when on sale in May.

Apparently Mountcharles announced on LMFM today that he was bringing ACDC and they have announced that they're going to be touring this year.

If I had a euro for every time AC/DC have been tipped for Slane, I'd be as rich as the Lord of Slane himself.

No can't find anything which is why I say 'Apparently'. I'd love it but very skeptical.

It was the 21st March last year that Body & Soul announced the first batch of music.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
