Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mayo have the best defence in the game IMO.

I wouldn't take any other defence over Cunniffe, Cafferkey, Higgins, Keegan, Boyle and Vaughan. Strong all the way through.

They are strong at Midfield as well.

Their downfall is as Pat Spillane said, their distribution.

They hold onto the ball and let the opposition filter back, and their forwards aren't good under pressure.

Really poor descision making as well.

    Dire game so far.

have you ever seen a worse half of football on live TV? that was shocking stuff, two horrible teams.

Roscommon and Mayo both trying their best to lose this one.

    Brutal shíte.

    2 come to mind.

    Donegal v Dublin AISF 2011

    and the worst...

Castlebar Mitchells v Ballintuber (possibly 2011) Mayo County Final on TG4

This comes in a close 3rd though.

Not a good day for the championship. Dire stuff out west. Louth getting a lesson and the Dubs still to take to the field.

I even felt awkward after that Pat Spillane joke :pac:

    Sunday Game on the blink.

Can't say I blame them for knocking off early.

Good old RTE. Technical difficulties and running the game into the ground

Don't think Dublin will be too worried looking at that Mayo team. Completely horrible stuff.

It's almost preferable during the "punditry" ... How many years are we gonna have to listen to Joe Brolly sneering at the football, slouching in his chair like he owns the place, seeking attention like a six year old with attention deficit disorder. If he'd offered me his kidney I would have told him to f**k off....

It'd make a half decent Aussie Rules game.

    Plenty of behinds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

If he says "The Hyde" one more time I'm going to mute him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

    Excellent goal.

Niall Daly is a fantastic footballer, and set up that score really well, and a great finish from Cafferky.

Bad goal to concede, huge overlap.

But Roscommon were doing that in the league a lot, thought Mayo would deal with it better though.

Evans needs to change Collins at CB.

Cillian O'Connor is beating him regularly now, he's on a yellow and thats his 4th foul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Not sure about that last free tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Murtagh was class for the u21's why didn't he start!

EDIT: Bad luck for Roscommon. Going to lose O'Gara and Shine.

Two cracking points by Diarmuid Murtagh since he came on.

Hope it's not too bad for Shine. Maybe just a sprained ankle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Mayo not looking very comfortable here. They lost 2 games in the league that weren't too dissimilar to this game. Big 10 minutes ahead.

Mayo seem awful lethargic or something.

    Sod Dublin.

I don't think our lot or Sligo will have much to worry about if this Mayo side turn up at the Connacht Final against either of us.

Donie Shine a big loss there. Hope he's ok.

True enough. Wonder is there a bit of discontent in the Mayo camp. Or maybe the confidence has just taken a knock after last year. Either way they don't deserve to win at this rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

2 massive scores from Andy Moran.

    Only 1 in it now.

Andy Moran leading the comeback. Two great scores.

Very complacent from what I see. Against Dublin and Derry (semi-final) they should have closed the game out when they both went down to 14 men but won neither of those games. Look very complacent again today. They need a collective kick up the hole if anything.

Jesus, I'm not sure about Kevin McLoughlain at all. I wasn't impressed by him last year either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Heating up very nicely now, Roscommon did brilliantly to go 3 clear, but two fantastic points from Andy Moran.

Hard to call now, wouldn't bet against a draw.

Roscommon will go to rot. Wait for it.

Yeah, I was saying there before that they look a bit lethargic in places or something. You'd wonder what would give them the kick up the arse they need. The Derry and Dublin matches should have done it, you would have thought.

Referee has done well all game, but that was a poor call against Mayo.

    EDIT: 2 in a row.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,184 ✭✭✭✭Lapin

Ross will feel they left it after them even with the loss of two of their stalwarts.

Oh, hang on - Five minutes. A lot can happen yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Very poor from the ref, Roscommon got 2 very, very soft frees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Big shtones by young O'Connor in "the Hyde"

    Great win for Mayo.

5 minutes of injury time seems like a lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Andy Moran's introduction was the turning point.

Great leadership, something they were sorely missing up front.

    Jesus, what a waste.

Why not put it over the bar!

    Poor descision.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,048 ✭✭✭Da Shins Kelly

Feel sorry for Roscommon now. Mayo won that by the absolute skin of their teeth and probably just had that little bit more quality in their team to come through.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭TheGoldenAges

Mayo ain't gonna do **** this championship anyway!

Sh1te first half but an enjoyable and exciting second half.On that last run he should have punted the ball over the bar he was straight in front of the goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Mayo still have a massive hole in their defence if you run at them through the centre.

They gave up 1 goal to this today and could have given up more.

Was a problem in the league, and they havent any idea how to solve it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,184 ✭✭✭✭Lapin

Galway for the Connacht Final and then home in time to watch the World Cup Final.

That's July 13th sorted out for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

Thankfully a much better 2nd half than the 1st. Mayo have a lot of improvements to carry out if they're going to be about in September and Roscommon will be a tricky draw in the qualifiers.

Hopefully I'll never have to hear Marty Morrissey going on about "the Hyde" for a while.

Any streaming links or otherwise for the Cavan v Armagh game?

That's abit of a mad thing to say . Right now you grind through games and winning is all that matters . Mayo won but I won't judge them until they get to Croker .

As a Mayo man I'm a bit disappointed he didn't.

Another game, in Mayo, would have done Mayo no harm.
