I've heard there's a new channel group of just the HD channels, could be this.

I will check it out further today. Actually only realised it was 4th Jan and not 3rd Jan.

My 1000S just updated, the EPG is wayyy faster now which is great, also supports playing youtube video on tablet and transferring it to continue playing on the tv( icon top right in youtube which looks like a rectangle with signal ).
Another cool feature is if you select standard BBC it highlights to press "Ok" to view the HD version, doesnt do it for Channel 4 though.

This is the list of changes:

Support for remote recordings and reminders from the companion Freesat iOS App. The App will be available in the App Store later this month
Support for remote control of Freetime box from the companion Freesat iOS App. The App will be available in the App Store later this month
    EPG Improvements
Confirmation prompt when deleting a recorded series
Improved stability when changing channels in non-Freesat mode
Improvements when reading a Media list from a NTFS formated USB device
Improvements to the display of Recorded Programmes when switching on from Standby
Improvements when Copying media or Deleting recordings
Improved display of Server contents in Humax > Media Share
Fixed issue with YouTube Back key

If only saorview boxes could be updated like that, freesat all the way. i bet even if new channels came onto freesat boxes you would not have to manually tune them in like we had to do with saorview?

The ability to select a symbol rate of 23000 has been removed when trying to add a transponder in non-freesat mode. Thread over on DS. Means you can't add channels such as STV HD on 10936V.

Whats with the shadow on the bottom of the screen when you press pause?
Pretty sure that wasn't there before the update.

Bit annoying when you are pausing it to see something on screen.

The Freesat App has gone live for IOS - seems to only be on the UK store though.

BBC News and BBC Sport apps launch on Freesat

Freesat has today announced the launch of the new BBC News app and BBC Sport app on its Freetime service – the only free TV platform or service to feature these. The two new BBC-branded apps will have a similar look and feel to the BBC’s current online and connected TV apps, and greatly expands the amount of specialist news and sports video programming available.

For next month’s Winter Olympics in Russia, Freesat Freetime viewers will be offered up to six live HD video streams, delivering over 650 hours of live sporting action from Sochi 2014. Viewers can also keep up with the latest video highlights and analysis along with news headlines and a live medal table direct from the Games.

BBC Sport app for Freesat offers live and On Demand action from the BBC Sport team, with plans to feature upcoming high profile live sporting events including the Winter Olympics, Six Nations Rugby, F1, Wimbledon, World Cup 2014 and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
