Can you identify this part?

    Hello all,

I am doing up an old honda scrambler. It is and 80's xl125 but has the engine from a newer 125 honda. I think the new engine must be from a road going bike as there is wiring for lights etc. I am cutting out a lot of the excess wiring but I have one part that I can't identify.

I have attached a picture of it. This little plug unit has one wire coming from the CDI and one from the Alternator, (at least I think it's from the alternator, it is coming out of the engine casing). It also has an earth wire. If the engine is running and I pull the plug from the socket the engine will cut out immediately. Equally, the bike will not start without this little plug in it's place. Can anybody tell me what it is and why it is there?

    Any thoughts or help appreciated.
