Good. I wouldn't want to talk to the depressing twat anyway.

In all fairness, he must have to walk away from an awful lot of people so. Which I'm sure those people are more than okay with.

All us people he walks away from will get together and have a barbecue.

Ya either love him or hate him.

I read your name as Angry Mammy. :)

You can like/love/tolerate his music and think he's a total tosser, which I think is probably the stance of much of his audience.

Yeah that's my stance, he's an amazing artist, and must be doing something right with all his fans, but i'd say after 5 minutes with him ya'd be reaching for the rope.

The man is a deluded self righteous clown. He maintains animals look to us for love and protection so we shouldnt be eating them. Not true. Yes Pets such as dogs and cats give us company and affection but that is only so in order for us to give them what they want i.e feed them. Animals are our competitors for the earths resources, not our friends. So yeah, i think ill tuck into a nice mince pie.

What I wouldn't give to die how these animals die... although I wouldn't want to live how they live.

Just using the "Meat is murder logic" They seem to forget this is how thing's happen in nature.. A killer whale does not humanely kill it's prey before munching on it.

"One of his strangest comments came in March last year when he defended the use of animals being used as fashion.

He said: "The rhino is now more or less extinct, and it's not because of global warming or shrinking habitats. It's because of Beyoncé's handbags.""

I fail to understand how he is defending animals being used in fashion, if anyone could clear this up for me?

I've never even heard of clothes or accessories made from rhinoceros-Chinese men looking for a cure for their small penises and Victorian big game hunters are the problem there.

He should stick to the GAA commentary, his comments on peoples eating habits are not welcome.I always thought Marty was a sound lad but to be honest I am viewing him in a different light after this.

, making us look like lunatics! Meat is murder,

Saying meat is murder makes vegetarians/vegans sound like lunatics. It isn't murder, plain and simple.

Definitely a few nuts short of a roast.

I blame a possible protein deficiency in his diet.

Anything that comes out of that numpty's mouth is verbal diarrhoea and he reinforces people's stereotypical opinions on vegetarians / vegans as being a bit soft in the head.

I'd rather read one lunatic comment from Morrissey than pages of the sanctimonious drivel that passes for comment from the majority of musicians out there.

18-year-olds got the vote in 1972, I don't recall them losing it in the '80's?

hmmm... it seems I may have used the wrong word. But there is a sense of context about it. It's not entirely about the right to vote.

"To disenfranchise is defined as to take away someone's right to vote or to deprive someone of power, rights and privileges."

The context I intended that there was no sense of place in society at the time.

He said: "If you were in a nightclub and someone said to you 'Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,' well, I doubt if you'd want to exchange phone numbers."

    In a club?
All I'd probably say is "WHAT?? CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

Remember that old Aesop fable about the scorpion who gets a lift on a fox's back as he swims across a river. The scorpion stings the fox halfway over and, just before he dies, the fox asks why as the scorpion will now drown.

"I'm a scorpion," comes the reply. "It's what I do."

Making idiotic comparisons between paedophilia, the holocaust, and spree killings in Norway to meat-eating is what Morrissey does. Best to just ignore him and hope that victims of child-molesters or mass killings aren't too offended at being compared to fish fingers or lamb cutlets.

I'll play devils advocate here seeing as its just one big Morrissey hate thread so far.

Its not a statement devoid of reason. The argument can be made that humans are just animals and that violence against one is no different than violence against another. Simply subjecting a creature (Or as Morrissey sees it a being) to pain and torment for personal gain is wrong. I assume we'd all agree that applies to inflicting harm on people as well as being cruel to animals. He seems to think that also applies to the meat industry as well as those who eat the meat.

Given it is Morrissey and he always says things in a way to make a splash combined with the fact its an article from a red top. I wouldnt be inclined to get overly worked up about it tbh.

He's just taking a hard line regarding the realities of food production today...i would say for example that the cheap chicken we get today is the result of horrendus cruelty.
