The man is a deluded self righteous clown. He maintains animals look to us for love and protection so we shouldnt be eating them. Not true. Yes Pets such as dogs and cats give us company and affection but that is only so in order for us to give them what they want i.e feed them. Animals are our competitors for the earths resources, not our friends. So yeah, i think ill tuck into a nice mince pie.

Its not a statement devoid of reason. The argument can be made that humans are just animals and that violence against one is no different than violence against another. Simply subjecting a creature (Or as Morrissey sees it a being) to pain and torment for personal gain is wrong. I assume we'd all agree that applies to inflicting harm on people as well as being cruel to animals. He seems to think that also applies to the meat industry as well as those who eat the meat.

Given it is Morrissey and he always says things in a way to make a splash combined with the fact its an article from a red top. I wouldnt be inclined to get overly worked up about it tbh.

He's just taking a hard line regarding the realities of food production today...i would say for example that the cheap chicken we get today is the result of horrendus cruelty.
