question got zapped in the great reset yesterday but will ask again. Why is there no cafe in the glendalough visitors centre, the only option is the hotel right beside it but in the summer its very crowded and the service is slow and in the winter Im normally in hiking gear so would prefer something more informal. Is the centre prevented from opening one by the hotel and if so on what basis? The centre seems to have enough space and it seems odd given that smaller ones around the country normally have a cafe.

Maybe because it's a visitor centre run by the tourist board and therefore doesn't have staff to run a coffee shop. Or, maybe they don't see the benefit of opening a coffee shop which could need significant investment - and sure there's a hotel there at the site anyway.

Or maybe they need a change of use thing from the council and just don't want to do it.

Sure you could email them and ask

I would doubt that it would be financially viable for much of the year.

its a popular spot though, even Glencree manages to have a coffee shop most of the year. theyd coin it during the summer and at least could open weekends over the winter.
