    may or september is the best time to go weather-wise, can be uncomfortable june-august.

    You could see most of the major sights in new york in 3 days......I'd never stay there longer than 5 days......apart from running out of the major sights, it is an extremely expensive city to stay in......between hotel and food, you'll blow through your savings pretty quick if you're there more than a few days.
