I've been using these for years now
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000MPRCQI
I paid$100 for them. They were really great but unfortunately broke recently. The sounds quality was really pleasing and it would be good headphones that would offer a noticeable (to me) improvement. With noise cancelling turned on there was a noticeable hiss.

I've decided to replace them with headphones. Only about 20% of the use will be in an aeroplane or anywhere where noise cancelling is particularly valuable. The idea of wireless connectivity intrigues me. I definitely want that to be a feature of my new headphones.

I'll be listening to acoustic, piano and orchestra, some pop, audiobooks and podcasts. It's important that there's an emphasis on the vocals. I hope that's enough information for you to be able to advise me.

    Here's a couple of options:

Parrot Zik by Philippe Starck Wireless Headphones - Black £254 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0081TH24O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1389224129&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

Creative Sound Blaster EVO ZxR Over-ear foldable headphones Noise cancelling Bluetooth and NFC with iOS Android App control and built in audio processing - works with PS4 £223
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DILPB3Y
These are my favourite. The technology looks great and they seem to have thought of everything.

I saw these next ones in a thread here. Maybe I'd be better off paying for superb sounds quality with no bells ands whistles.
Pioneer HDJ-2000 Reference Professional Dj Headphones $199
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001LQXYKK/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

Any advice? Recommendations for Sennheiser, Bose or Beats? Thanks in advance!

I was disappointed not to receive a reply here. Nonetheless, I thought I'd come back and let you know my final decision.

In addition to the headphones above I researched these in detail:

    Beats by Dre $300
    http://www.beatsbydre.com/headphones/studio/beats-beatsstudio.html
I ruled these out early on because it seems like the audio is too bassy and otherwise distorted for listening to the music I'm into. Also, I get the strong impression that they spend more money on branding than developing sounds quality.

    Bose QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones $300
    http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/noise_cancelling_headphones/quietcomfort_15/index.jsp
These look gorgeous and sound gorgeous by all accounts. If I was looking primarily for headphones for a noisy commute and valued audio quality over bells and whistles these would be the obvious choice.

    Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones $417
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00018MSNI
    Sennheiser Momentum £260

I think these two are the best for audiophiles, better than the Pioneer in the previous post. It just comes down to budget.

There doesn't seem to be much competition when it comes to wireless headsets in this price range, especially when you add in noise cancelling. I really had to choose between technology/gadgetry and sound reproduction and as such it was always going to be the Creative Sound Blaster EVO ZxR with Bluetooth and noise cancellation.

They have very very good sound as opposed to superb sound. They are beautifully made. The features work really well and the controls are intuitive. I love the functionality of the app that comes with them. They hold their battery charge for 8 hours+ They've been faultless since I got them.

The runner up would be Parrot Zik by Philippe Starck Wireless Headphones.

    Thanks and sorry.
Wireless with noise cancelling isn't in my wheelhouse and I have a fairly low opinion of active noise cancellation so thought better of replying, then adding wireless to the mix I could only think..."what can I suggest that won't be a huge waste of money and sound like muck"....nadda...the sony 1rnc popped into my mind but knowing it doesn't sound very good I could hardly recommend it.

Hope you get on ok with the Creative Sound Blaster EVO ZxR with Bluetooth and noise cancellation, despite it's catchy name I can't say i've heard of it before.

Thanks very much for your reply, i'm sure it'll help someone else make a similar decision down the line.
