My house is @ 15 years old and some of my switches are starting to break, they are the basic white ones, would anyone have any recommendations for replacement, switches (20) and sockets (30). What would it cost per socket on average and a better grade / quality replacement. Wouldn't be going for brass or anything way too fancy, thanks in advance!

Hager sollysta sockets and switches are a good product, very nice finish and good build quality, i personally don't like brass as it can tarnish and look grubby after a period of time, approx €150 should kit you out on the sollysta, there are alot of bad brands out there and cheap is not always best.

I would go for MK Logic Plus. Very good gear. Ring around the wholesalers for a quote. Keep away from B&Q etc for these quantities. Cheap in this type of equipment tends to be nasty.

Any idea what it might cost for an Electrican to replace them, how long would it take? The house is 15 years old, would I be looking at re wiring it in 5 years time and should a job like changing all the sockets be left until then?

Wiring should be fine! Allowing for any unforeseen circumstances about a day! 200 plus vat or a little less I would charge!
