What to wear for a summer wedding

I am and have been looking for a bodycon maxi dress hopefully with a fishtaill for a June wedding. I am wondering first of all will this be suitable, I really care about the people being married thus all the panic. I have also been looking at maxi flower dresses. I am a bit clueless about this so sorry for the questions. I only have a limited budget as well.

Is it a formal wedding? Be careful with maxi's as sometimes they can look a bit 'beachy' or casual, if you get me..
Have a look here...some are a little revealing but there are some really gorgeous ones, and I think they look a lot more expensive than they are,

Thanks for that, it will be a big-ish church wedding. Will have a look at the linlks. I just want to get the tone right as I care very deeply about both the bride and groom.

I would not wear a maxi dress to a church wedding at all, I think it's not appropriate for the occasion.

I think some maxi dresses can be nice, not beachy ones or not some of the ones from that misguided site because neck line is too low. There is a lovely navy one on the last page, sorry can't link it on my phone, it is €51 I think, lace side.

I don't think I have seen a bodycon maxi dress with a fish tail, but I don't think it would be suitable, too figure hugging, more suitable for a debs or tv award ceremony perhaps.

Remember if you are wearing a maxi, find out the colour of the bridesmaids too, you don't want to look like one of them.

I know the colours of the bridesmaids and my children will be involved in the wedding as well. I do have scars on my back from cancer surgery, I just do not want to be too warm. The bride loves a certain colour so am trying to honour her with the dress colour. Thank you for all of the advice - I may get the red fishtail for myself for another day apart from the wedding. I just would like to be able to wear the dress at other occasions apart from this wedding. If I do wear a halterneck I will wear a shawl over it. Thanks again for the advice.
