Something like this would be nice. I'm not sure of the best graphics cards for 3D modelling etc. I have a 270 in the build. Someone else might know better

Hey thanks. That looks perfect.

Probably gonna go with the PNY Quadro 2000 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics card just for the extra bang there. looking at adobe's recommendations and others and this one seems to work well.

Everything else there looks spot on to me.

I'm happy to take as many opinions on this as possible to help with a final decision but I don't think I can go far wrong as it stands here. Thanks again

Have you considered a higher resolution monitor?

I can't help but think that your workflow would be improved by being able to see more detail, and you're going to be looking at that screen for a long time.

Also think about how responsive that TV is compared to a purpose-built monitor, is there a difference in refresh rate?

I'm pretty sure CAD & Maya doesn't support/use SLI.

I'm unsure if CAD & Maya would use the CPU or GPU more? Would getting a 6 core 3930K and a cheaper "consumer" graphics card be of more benefit?

I'm getting a new tv for it anyway, I'm not worried about that. I'l be taking all that into account. I know what you mean though.

think about dual screens as you will probably get an efficiency bump with it

Thought it'd be easier to bump this thread. The machine needs more processing power, and from looking at zBrush, it uses CPU over GPU. Thus upgrade from the current LGA1150 i7-4771, to maybe something with 8 cores, 16 threads? Had a look at the xeons, but they seem to all be around the $1000 mark. Not sure where I'd be able to find octo core Intel CPUs?
