Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would like to see stats for Ozil in games from 70mins on

is it me or does he always look to have shot his bolt and becomes really ineffective in the last 20mins or so?

We made such hard work of that. 3 points is all that counts in the end, but a poor, poor performance.

Phew. Villa never really looked like they could get the second. Arsenal need to step up a gear against better teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Mertesacker was really good at the end.

Got his head to a lot of crosses.

Cruising against probably the worst team we played this season (first half anyway) and ended up making hard work of it in the end.
Too much messing in the second half.

Villa did look like they could get a second. If you watched the last 15

3pts away from home Tayto can't be complaining!

I've always had question marks about Ozil's fitness levels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Well I suppose City did drop 3 points there so its a plus for us there as well!

They sure do love to give the English players man of the match at any opportunity, thought Mert was easily Arsenal's best player again tonight

He was one of our best players last 15 held it really well. He's not an energetic player regardless he's about touch a killer pass

    Created another goal tonight

Not really. A few long range shots and and balls being pumped into the box but nothing more

8 of the top 9 all won this past weekend.

The problem was that they thought they had them at half-time and took their foot off the gas.

Weird if it was a trait at Madrid as well??

Its like if you can keep him quiet for an hour (which is a massive task in itself) then you're nearly guaranteed to blunt his attack.

    Yeah I know that.

People just seem to have misconceptions about the type of player he is.

He's not the type of player he's constantly in the game for 90 minutes but he can pop up with a killer pass or piece of skill at any time. He's great at creating space for his team mates too, very intelligent player.

Ozil was the only one capable of keeping the ball in the last 15 minutes, swear people are just waiting with their knives for him.

Someone had to lose with Newcastle playing City, unless it was a draw of course. :)

You understand the concept of looking like your going to score.... Look at the stats for villa shots second half versus arsenal. Then come back to me.

    Delusional

Got away with that a little tonight - wonder if that makes AW any keener to go into the transfer market. Really could do with some pace up front.

Arsenal are untouchable, any physical contact at all from the oppsotion and they react like they've been assaulted. Cazorla and Ozil the worst offenders.

Mertesacker did well at the end. Good to see Wilshire hititng form, he should be the main man in the middle for England at the WC.

Would ya go away, they give as much as they get these days

Not a great performance and a very dull game but 3 points is all that matters, would take another 17 of them :pac:

Always find it funny the way Carragher pronounces Özil's name "Ozzel", in face of overwhelming evidence that that is not how you pronounce it.
