39"/40" HD. Saorview - smart TV

Hi,
I looking for best deals on 39"/40" televisions. I'm afraid I'm not very informed when it comes to televisions, and am very confused about screen types - plasma, backlit LCD etc. But am looking for something the youngest can play the xbox on, saorview for the Irish channels, and were thinking of getting rid of UPC TV package, for better broadband, so was wondering would I be able to get UTV, BBC, Channel 4 etc on a smart TV?

Are Walker tv's any use though? I need a new one asap but money is a bit tight at the minute. That looks like good value though.

Nothing wrong with them at all,they rate highly enough for the price & unless you are one of those people who sits in front of it with a microscope examining every pixel then you'll be more than happy.

I've a sub €500 tv and one that was double that,the cheaper one has a better picture imo.

The Walker is great value as it has both saorview & satellite tv built in so just connect an aerial & a dish and away you go,it's perfect for hanging on a wall as there's no extra boxes needed.

Cheers for the reply. I'm seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on it.
My old tv kicked the bucket about ten seconds after I switched it on in our new house. Typical!

Thanks zerks, that does seem like a really good deal, I'm based in Limerick, but think I saw somewhere which sells that brand. I like to take a look at picture quality, before biting the bullet and purchasing. Hopefully the offer will stand for another couple of days.
