Whatever. Sorry you don't believe it but do me a favour and leave out the crass childish comments.

Surely you can see the whole story sounds so crazy it wouldn't seem plausible?

If you say it happened that's grand but if someone is so drunk they can't get out of a bunker after going 2 under gross the previous 3 holes questions will be asked.

I haven't even considered whether it sounds believable or not. Yes it did actually happen. We drove down and the driver didn't drink. I was in the front seat and didn't realise how much the guy had been drinking on the way down until we got out of the car. He took his wet gear out of his bag and threw them into the bin (yes that's obviously a strange thing to do). He then filled up the bag with cans (I wasn't aware that he'd brought so many). He couldn't carry his bag and so he went and nicked a trolley without paying for it. None of the rest of us were close to being drunk and we were a bit annoyed with him. He then proceeded to rattle off two birdies in three holes (he was a decent player). Yes he did fall into the bunker and yes he couldn't get out as it was pretty deep. By that stage we had had enough of him so we took his shoes and left him in the bunker.I have no idea what he did next but since we drove down he had to wait for us to finish our round (we were young at the time and I doubt if he had much money on him to make his way home).

Sounds like a Benny Hill sketch!!!

If this was any old course you might say something, but this all happened apparently at Royal County Down lol

I used to play with a gent, keen as mustard, great club man too.....come hell or high water he"d be on the tee, he'd attend every function or prize giving ,the lot. A real good genuine 24 handicap......anyhoo he would during casual rounds ask for tips and what not, one day standing on par 5 he produces his go to club, His MacGregor RD 7wood, he then proceeds to top it so violently the ball spun straight up in the air and knocked his own hat off¡¡ my Other playing partner looked at me with tears rolling down his face and asks...."did you show em that one".......a few holes later all 3 of us are still giddy as kids over this on a par 4.....he exclaim...."Ill give one more chance" as he un covers ole faithfull....Partner and I are like kids who have just seen their teacher outside school for the first time!! he swings....he lunges....he dips.....contact is made....with the same top 3 dimple as the last time.......ball shoots up, as he follows through he makes contact with the ball, off it arcs ever green wards.....pitches in the green side bunker pin high.......Proud as punch he declares....."Ill not get rid of her yet" No laughter this time just stunned silence.
    Its a great aul game.

We were playing in the Heath golf club one day. As the name suggests its a heathland course in an area similar to the curragh. One of the holes runs parallel to the road. My dad was playing with us and he is brutal. He was about to hit his second shot from the fairway. Coming towards us was a brand new merc. So he hits his shot which was a complete shank and turns to us to ask where did it go. The ball flew straight into one if the headlights on the car stayed in there. Never in all my days did I laugh as much.

We were playing our local sillogue park in Ballymun last year and anyone who plays it regular will know there is a local bird of prey that's around most of the time.i think it's a buzzard.
So this one early Sunday morning he appears on the first and my playing partner points him out hovering above the middle of the first fairway ,we stood there and watched him swoop down on a poor unfortunate rabbit,so onwe go about golf so we got to the 5th tee when I informed my playing partner that the bird was back.
He looked at me no I don't think that's the one from the first ,and I said why not!
He said the one on the first didn't have lights on it .thats right my old lamps aren't as good as I thought .it was a plane ,very far away all the same .i still laugh every time ithink about it!

    Almost forgot this one...

Playing Bandon years ago. Late ~10.30pm Summers evening playing the 18th (par 3) virtually pitch black. Hit a poor approach ~ 25y short of green. Used to play a lot of pitch & putt so went for the old flop sand wedge flat, full swing... Thinned it straight through the green at head height through the putting green @ same height, clattered into the mens changing room window, bounced back across the putting green through the bushes and rolls back up onto the back of the green. My playing partner missed all this and when we get down to green he comments that it was unlike me to not put the ball closer to the pin (on the front). Tried my best to not laugh but eventually had to admit what had happened - thank God for toughened glass in clubhouse...
