    I know there is another restaurant thread, but just trying to find out where would be best to go in the city with my gf for her bday. we,ve been to Isaac,s market lane,currans and eden but would like to go somewhere different. so looking for somewhere with good food, nice atmosphere and does,nt cost a fortune

    Fenns quay is good food, but no atmosphere in there for a gf birthday i think.

    I would recommend Club Brasserie and The Electric for birthday. If you are a bit more adventurous, cafe paradiso (vegetarian) or Ivory Tower (wacky!) might be good.

    Star Anise - we're heading their on Thur for wife's birthday.

    Les Gourmandises is super all round (i love that place)
    -super food & wine
    -super atmosphere
    -super location
    - and super expensive

    If you like fish ,Oysters is a great option. They have an early bird which is good value.

    Would also suggest Jacques which is really good, and good value

    thanks for help ended up going 2 pemrose(imperial hotel) very nice place food was good 2, starters are pricey but mains good value. overall was v happy.
