Sooner Left Hand (and Foundes) distribute to California the better.

Had a couple of Brehon Breweries Shanco Duff Stout ABV 7.7% tonight - very nice indeed.

Feck off, you got enough selection living out there :pac:

    Although how are the stouts?

    The Full Irish.

Jeez, what's all the fuss? It's nice, but nothing spectacular.

As Irish pale ales go, I think it's very nice.

The Full Irish was really excellent when I had it. Miles ahead of other Irish IPAs.

Really? I found it bland, almost a typical red Ale vibe from it

Evil Twin Hipster Ale - nice and hoppy if that's what you're looking for!

Weird. My post is in reply to the Hipster Ale post

That's true about comparing it to the glut of other Irish PA's but I suppose it needs to stand on it's own. It's either excellent or not. I thought it was just nice. Nothing spectacular.

jimmybeige deleted his post for some reason.

I thought the Hipster Ale wasn't great either. Just meh, like a boring bitter lager.

I thought it was an excellent beer, up there with White Hag Bran & Sceolan, Trouble Brewing Whistleblower (two beers with much bigger ABV) and the new version of Hurricane for IPA of the year here. Probably helped that I drank it days after release (in April), whens the last time they produced a batch of this?

Its a single malt beer, so is all about the hops. Maybe yours wasnt as fresh as others had.

But hasn't it only just been bottled?

Uh, I thought it was draught only! The spiel on ratebeer says the same, they must have bottled it since. Must try it during the week see if its different in the bottle.

Italy is probably my favourite European beer country at the moment. Too bad you really have to go there to taste the best offerings....but it's a great country to visit anyways, here are some bottles I either drank at the hotel or brought back with me.

Had some Vietnow IPA recently in Blackbird. The current batch is clearly better than the one making rounds around the beer fest. Best Irish hoppy beer, had a wide open fruity hops galore with a perfectly dry/bitter finish.

That Péché Mortel is pure perfection. Amazing beer.

Totally, the bitter finish is so reassuring, reminds me of an old rasputin but with coffee

There are about five or six good ones fairly easy to get: Sierra Nevada, Firestone Walker, Bear Republic, Lagunitas Imperial Stout, Drakes Imperial and Oskar Blues Ten FIDY.
Might take a bit of hoking around sometimes to find them.

Sitting here in the Norseman. Reading the taps

    Amber Ella
    Belgium dubbel
    Russian imperial
    Double irish
    Hurricane ipa
    Howling gale

All seriously good beers if there was an award (probably is) for brewery of the year it'd have to go to 8 degrees. Immense lineup of beers and all completely different styles to each other.

There's also 28 taps on this side of the bar, only 7 of them are not irish. Great state to be in.

Just placed my Christmas beer order with Drinkstore. Soo hard not to want one of almost everything.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,097 ✭✭✭Herb Powell

Very surprised that Perlenbacher is nowhere near as shhite as I was expecting it to be. Nothing worth writing home about, but I was expecting something unpleasant.

Trying various cheap lagers is proving to be some laugh so far.

    Odell's IPA. Yum.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Odell's IPA is one of my favourites.

I always have their stout on tap in the Thomas House, too. It's delicious.

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭themountainman

Oh nice on. Haven't had it but will definitely give it a go now.

Founders Breakfast Stout on draft in Porterhouse Templebar. Between that, PH Celebration Stout and White Hag imperial Oatmeal Stout all on draft. It's an all star stout line up.

Drinking Wychwood Bah Humbug and really like it. Also tried Batemans Rosey Nosey. Nice as well but prefer the former.

    Currently available at Aldi.
