Love O Brothers The Chancer myself, such juicyness from the hops

Any sign of them bottling that stuff?

I'll look out for it on tap in the meantime though.

Bought some Mescan (from my home county) 8% but it was quite nice. Belgian style but from Mayo? Didn't know we were so cuultured! Delighted with my purcahse if only to support my locals. It was nice (not my fav though).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Buried At Sea is just lovely. I don't care if everyone else thinks it's too warm out for stouts. :P

    Never too warm for stout!

Sure look at the Nigerians, Jamacians and Indonesia, pucking the 7.5% Guinness and Dragon Stout into them in all weather and divil a breeze to cool them down!

Speaking of which, finally popped open a bottle of Blacks Model T I manged to get my hands on while watching Bayern demolish Porto on the tellybox.

About half way through it now and I think it's lovely, but a litre is a bit over kill, would have prefered a 500ml bottle, would have made it fecking cheaper as well!

    Great beer though.

I have a few each of these stashed away, probably won't open them until Christmas time or even later. Should be good for a few more years than that though.

Try one of each now and then try them in a few months and see which you preferred :)

    Yup, best irish IPA imho.

Is The Chancer available in bottles?

Bought 4 bottles of Kenmare IPA from Supervalu for a €10 last night. Had one, foul tasting stuff.

Tastes like an unfortunate swig of cheap canned lager you'd have at a house party where someone has tipped cigarette ash and butt into it.

I've never tried it, but is there a chance that it could have been passed it's sell by date? I've a feeling the Super Value near me has had the same bottles of Kenmare for years.

potentially, I'll check the remaining bottles that I'm saving for when the in laws come to visit.

I've tried it, it's not terrible, just boring.

  • Registered Users Posts: 175 ✭✭Maynard

Kenmare should just taste weak or bland, definitely not foul.

Black donkey buck it amber ale, nice bitter hoppy taste to it, would recommend.

I had a bottle of the Kenmare pale ale about a year ago, I remember it tasting stale, almost oxidised - like wet cardboard. It wasn't foul, but not very nice. I haven't tried it since then.

Hmm, some off licences may have it for Growler fills

I picked up a bottle (swing top with a paper tag around its neck) of it in Hollands in Bray a while back, quite tasty.

I'll keep my eye out, anyway. Cheers.

I had a Jaipur X10 in the new Beer Market. Silky smooth stuff. Followed by 2 All Days and 2 Modus Hoperandi on tap in The Thomas House. All the hops.

Of The Chancer? I tweeted the brewery to see if it was available in bottles and they said they wouldn't be bottling for another month or so. I will have to pop in to Holland's to see if they have any more of their secret stash.

pretty sure it was yeah, maybe Holland's filled it from their own kegs. it was a growler-esque bottle.

Very hard to fill a bottle from a normal tap though, the growler system is specialised

You just need a hose attached to the tap. That's what they do in pubs that do growler fills.

Anywhere I have seen it, it is like a short length of garden hose, nothing fancy

    Porterhouse Brewing Company

Wrasslers 4X Stout purchased in O'Brien's.

Nice full head when poured and it has a dry and roasty flavour to my taste-buds. Quite nice.
