Customs damaged gift

Hi just wondering if anyone has had this before. I bought a gift - makeup set for the OH via a UK site but it came from outside the EU. I got the customs bill and paid up. When I received the package it had obviously been opened and resealed with an excess of tape. I had to sign something to say I was OK with customs inspecting it and did. When I got home and opened it had obviously been subjected to a lot of tests it looks like a used set now and is f all use as a gift. I'm going to try the seller but TBH it's not their issue.

Do I have any come back with customs?

Anyone else have anything similar happen them?
