Some good stuff in this thread. You are obviously a marketing genius.

Did you develop a detecting system of people that come to your shop to get advise and then buy online.
I mean this has to be the most annoying aspect of a brick and morter shop.
given the fact that there is a study that 1 in 7 buys and uses drugs that in some cases can be classified unethical , how many people you think are going to a brick and mortar shop to get advice from a salesperson and then buy online?

The *really* interesting thing is the AKW is often cheaper than Wiggle and CRC, people just assume they will be cheaper!!!

We have 'Sub Gear', same stuff but probably better as Made in Germany ;)
I used it to patch a few tears in my own suit.

The kids get great craic from that and usually look stunned as they are convinced they ran forwards :D

    Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks Peter, though I would disagree with you over that too, maybe :)

Yeah you're right it is annoying especially as a specialist store where you are spending 30/40 minutes helping & advising people on the correct shoe choice.

Probably through inexperience this was a bigger issue when we started out, but people come to realise that in general saving €10 (on current styles) it's not worth the hassle of going out of your way to a shop and then going on line.

At this stage I would be fairly competent at spotting someone tyre kicking and will depending on how busy I am, absorb just as much of their time as they will of mine, it's amazing how much technical information there is to talk about ;)

The biggest issue we have is with wetsuits. Advising, fitting etc "I'll be back next week" and then you see them in some cheap knock off suit at the next event. Their loss really as they have not even benefited from the advice and just gone on the pricetag.

    Thankfully not that many.

It would be unusual for someone to really go out of their way to 'use' you as a free advice service but it happens. A couple of times I've copped people browsing the net to find out more about their choosen shoe / price check and I'd ignore it. Mostly you will find older models online, cheaper, and it's not like for like. People make up their own mind about things like that.

    Thanks Peter.

    Thanks for that Mr. T.

The other thing is we are always appreciative of the opportunity to price match. While comparing B&M independent stores with large multiples or online resellers is definitely not the same, we will if possible, give you the same price if you give us the opportunity (and we will still support the local races too ;) )

Its a very clever marketing ploy.

Fill you up with cakes & coffee, encourage you to run it off = increased wear & tear on footwear :D

I wish I were closer as I can't think of anyone I'd trust more with my feet than you, AKW. Now can I finally take off my damn bike helmet? ;)

P.S. - Loved the singles ads!!! You're the bomb! :)
