Site is slow today

    Hi everyone,
    You may have noticed that the site has become very slow today. Unfortunately we are experiencing some trouble with our database servers which is causing this slow down.

    Our wonderful tech team are investigating the issue and will have things back to normal as soon as possible.

    There may some some knock-on effects such as duplicate posts which has already been reported to us.

    Please be patient while the team work on this, we'll have things back on track as soon as we can!

    At 16:30, we have switched the site back on in Read Only mode - you will not be able to post. This is to prevent data loss when our banjaxed database slave machine comes back online later (if all goes according to plan, we think this will take about 2 hours)

    Further Edit:
    Mods and Verified Reps can post, the reps will have had some work to finish and mods make up such a small percentage of the site's total traffic, it shouldn't have adverse effects.
