Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Electric Shower - Burning Smell...?

Please consider me an absolute amateur on all things plumbing-related!

My parents' electric shower has recently had a noticeable "burning" smell. I describe it as either "burning" or (and this is specific, I know) the "smell of fresh rain on hot concrete".

I'm not sure exactly where it's emanating from, i.e. whether is the shower motor housing or possibly the shower-head itself. It's too difficult to pin down, but there doesn't appear to be any degradation in performance of the shower. It's still as hot & powerful as ever with full control of pressure / temperature acting as normal. The only symptom is this odd smell.

Does that sound familiar to anyone or does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot further? Thanks in advance!

it could be that the brushes on the motor are coming to the end of their life.

Standard light bulb is 60 watt
Standard electric shower is 8,500 watt's

Personal I would not recommend standing under it if it's faulty.

Get expert professional opinion, call somebody, don't rely on text messages to fix it.

Thanks guys. You're both echoing what I thought myself, but it's good to have the seconds opinions. I'll put up the hazard tape and get it looked at!
