I have a 2009.. 90% finished house. I am currently looking to finish the attic insulation.Vaulted ceilings were fitted with 150mm rafterloc between rafters and 50mm insulated slab with the open attic area just slabbed with the 50mm insulated slab. It was my intention at the time to lay a 300mm mattress of rockwool over this and i do have a raised floor in place .
Is the 300mm enough or should i put a thicker mattress down as i have the clearance to install 600mm plus . Would the extra thickness cause any moisture problems etc.

The current insulation/attic,walls,floor,windows package etc performed to an excellent level during the two freezes of the 2010/2011.

never guage by thickness alone - get a U-Value calculation carried out which will factor in bridging of timber, thermal conductivity of materials. Also consider the type of material and its longevity, you may need to increase to take account of settlement/moisture/poor fixing etc.
However, 300mm over what you have already seems more than enough - U-Values in the region of 0.10-0.12W/m2.k are the limits of where you want to go even for passive...the law of diminishing returns kicks in thereafter...!
