    It is my understanding that what you just said here is the very definition of bro science.

    The general consciousness is that the body cannot digest more than 30g of protein in one sitting. Anything else is just wasted. You can't just eat 200g of protein from whey in the morning and then eat whatever you want the rest of the day and expect to give your body everything it needs, it doesn't work like that. But hey, if someone has proof please prove me wrong, I'd love to know!

    @Zillah thanks for the link.

    This is a myth that unfortunatley is fairly ingrained in the whole gym culture. It's origins are actually based on bodybuilders wanting to get there 1g/lb of protein in over 6 meals. I guess a lot of them hang around the 180lb mark. Anyway it's universally agreed as debunked if you look into it a bit.

    We had a nice thread on protein absorption a few months ago. Some links were in there.

    So.... are you saying that you actually can just drink 200g protein of whey in the morning and then ignore your nutrition (within limits) for the rest of the day?

    in theory yes,
    but youd be starving after for the whole day. then you'd be living the rest of the day on 200g or so carbs and 100g or so fats. trying to find food to keep you full which dont contain protein and also fulfil your bodies need for vitamins and mineral.

    a better option would be to eat a regular balanced diet of a variety of foods, including meat and veg and fish and dairy, or any combination as your tastes dictate. then working out your protein carb and lipid totals and taking a shake if you need the extra few grams.

    I was in Citywest shopping centre the other day. The butchers besides Dunnes was selling 40 chicken fillets for 22 euro.

    Less than 50c a fillet.

    Maybe you need more fish in your diet :P

    It's 55c a fillet.

    As thegreatiam said in theory yes. But who would ever do that. This forum does like focusing on extreme unrealistic examples at times.
