Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't want to go off topic, but wanted to know if RSS Feeds are now the way to go, primarily for tv, as i'm using it for the past while when i used to go to isohunt for torrents, but someone kindly left the idea on torrentfreak.

A yes or no would suffice as i dont know if you cant talk about it in detail, as i use showrss.

    Thanks.

Btw: kickass isnt blocked now, but someone kindly left the mirror a while ago, as i was using that one.

After reading the developments in this thread, I went along and tried out the websites mentioned.

The main Kickass Torrents website has, for me, become entirely unblocked. As is The Pirate Bay, on one of their 'former' domains.
This is not a proxy, but using a former TLD which they used during the 'we move every week to avoid the authorities' days.

Does anybody have any idea why KAT is unblocked as of right now?

Edit: Someone on the Ireland subreddit saying that KAT changed their IP. I thought Eircom's blocking policy would have allowed for IP changes at least.

Just so you know I am with eircom and it doesn't look to be blocked.
Didn't try any tricks so not sure what happens there...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,240 ✭✭✭✭briany

Checked KAT earlier on and was hit with the block message. Checked just now and got through on two devices. Odd. Really think it's just some hitch in the system with Eircom.

As of 5 minutes ago ThePirateBay and Kickass seem both to be accessible via their normal web addresses, no proxying going on. Vodafone eFibre. That's kind of strange, have the ISPs looked to that recent case in the Netherlands and realised there's no point? IRMA must be fuming..

They'd be in violation of a court order to unblock them unilaterally, even if it's pointless to try. It seems their block is a simple manual one that's defeated when the blocked sites change IP. The worse alternative is the one in Sky which blocked any IP claimed by a site, the result of which was a case where a blocked site deliberately added a DNS response for another site, causing Sky to block them, meaning they could essentially block any site on the Sky network at will.

Yup. I'd say it's only a glitch on refreshing the servers or something. No fear it'll be blocked again by morning soon as an engineer spots it.... Or sees this thread :D

its been completely unblocked for me on Vodafone for at least a week now. Sometimes it takes a little while to load up, but when it eventually does its business as usual.

    its all very mysterious.

It was down for a few hours last nite, but thank google & proxies for that :)

Aaaaaand blocked again on Vodafone as of yesterday! Except now the blocked message has the eircom logo.

I'm beginning to think there's some backhaul issues out there (storm related? efibre congestion related?), traffic is getting rerouted around the place, and the torrent site blocks are low enough priority that they're the last things to get sorted.

I was using it around 6 yesterday evening without a workaround.

Never mind me.. looks like Chrome was caching kickass.to since my last attempt on an eircom connection. Just tried there again on my Vodafone connection, refreshed the page a few times and it's back on.

Kickass working for me too on eircom, but weirdly the page loads perfectly on my ipad, but on the laptop it's loading as just blue text, no graphics. Still able to use it though.

I wonder is it linked to eircoms efibre rollout, cos our area has only just gone live last week.

On Vodafone I don't get any message saying ThePirateBay is blocked, it just won't load, is that the same for everyone?

    KickAss works grand.
