Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I thought he had already retired to be honest.

    M'kay.

One of the all-time greats. 1980 still hurts here, though.

Stayed on one year to many. Great many and did so much for some of the weaker counties which was great to see.. happy retirement Micko.

The man is a legend! Seen an advert the other day that he is managing a football team in O'Moore Park in May against Brian Cody of all people!! It's for charity but for a final match he has a good opponent! I think O'Dwyer would come out on top in that one.

Great career obviously. A shame the Wicklow thing didn't work out, always thought in a big county like that you get something, especially considering clubs like Rathnew. Along with Fermanagh, Wicklow are the only county never to win a Senior Provincial title.

The less said about the Clare stint the better.

would disagree with you about his time in Wicklow. I think it was a success. Didnt they win a first game in Croke Park for years and played 4 or 5 games in the summer for the first time.

Success is relative to where your coming from.

Good point, they did beat Kildare in Croke Park and got a good run in the qualifiers under him. Like you say success is relative especially in a county with a history like Wicklow's.

He should come out of retirement and manage Kilkenny. What a coup for the Kilkenny county board to have the two greatest managers managing their two county teams. If he could manage Wicklow, a county with less football success than Kilkenny, then there is no reason why Micko should not manage the Black and Amber footballers. With a bit of work he could make them indistinguishable from Crossmaglen Rangers, apart from the accents.
