Now that I am here in Key West and have had a feel for the conditions I'll be racing in on Saturday, and because I am aware that I am not properly trained (yet), and because I have a burning desire to enjoy this first HIM and smile all the way, I am changing Oryx's dream of a prediction for me and going with something a little more realistic at this moment in time.

Never mind conditions, get down to Sloppy Joe's !!!! I love Key West, i was drinking from my Sloppy Joe's mug today, i wish i had some of Kermits key lime pie to go with it:(

corkscrew isn't that bad, you've probaby done it on spins from your neck of the woods but it's not long and the trick is to stay out towards the middle, away from the really steep bits along the inside edge of the turns

Ha ha, i was thinking of avoiding the swim and going straight onto the bike. That 3:59 should be a 4:59...entering into tables on the phone is not a gopod idea!!

Hmmm...

No it's not, but the longer bike is a fair difference.

Lost sheep bike defo harder and subject to headwind on back straight. 2 decent climbs and technical descents.
Tri an mhi more a rolling course with one short climb. Long though.

The Lost Sheep run is also harder with a sharper incline.

I remember tri an mhi run being near 22km but checked file and wasn't quite.

Bike

Lost Sheep - 1,100m elevation in 80km
Tri an Mhi - 900m elevation in 94km

Run

Lost Sheep - 320m elevation in 22km
Tri an Mhi - 250m elevation in 22.4km

Miles off target. Melted in the heat on the run. Great course all round, other than the mid-30s heat.... the swim course is calm and clear and extremely well laid out, the bike is up, down and then flat and the run is flat. May just have to go back some day!

Cycle was too tough and run too technical on the Gauntlet. Maybe next year if Galway holds a Challenge event?

Very happy with that time, swim went as expected, cycle 10mns faster than I figured, then had quite a comfortable run. Great day for it!
