Best of luck to the boards contingent. Looking forward to the PB reports. :)

Likewise, Sideswipe. I'll be cheering all the runners on through gritted teeth!
Tough luck with the injury Sas! Make sure you use your entry to get in for the post race free drink though...that's the most important part of the weekend!

    Weather still looking 100% ideal!

Added a few runner details and eased off my own target.
A bad September has led me to be more conservative for the opening third of the race and hopefully I manage to keep going strong to the end.
Realistic target now is sub 3:20. If things go well on the day I'll try and get closer to 3:15.

The very best of luck J, I'm only catching up now on other people's logs, marathons etc.....

Peckham, blockic and RunForestRun all safely arrived in a very warm Chicago. One boardsie almost didn't make it after some immigration complications, but that's a story for another day!

we've been down at the start and finishing area visualising our triumphs on Sunday.. Killer hill at 26 miles, must be 14 feet elevation gain on it...

Well I've hijacked this thread once or twice already so I might as well again. Metz, cold but dry was as tough as expected. Got a PB of 3:09:08 but it hurt like hell. Went through Half in about 1:32:30 - will check later. Second half was brutal, just kept cramps at bay with little sponges and cold water down the socks.

It is a 5 minute course best though! Hope Chicago is a little more enjoyable.

Congrats Itziger. Jesus - Chicago looks great, 12 degrees and light winds. Looks perfect!

Wow! Bit different alright to Metz. 6.5 degrees at start. Cool breeze on top of that and low cloud cover. About 2,000 people spread over the course "cheering" us on. They were very good tbf, the few that were there. I've often said I'm not a huge big-city marathon man but I might have to reconsider.

Looks like RFR is leading the pack through 5k. The tracking system is excellent. Peckham and Blocky running together?

    @10k
    RFR 40.24
    Blocky 41:41
    Peckham 41:40

two lads obviously running together. RFR dropped (got faster by) 35 seconds in his second 5k

Tracking is brilliant. Off for a run myself now

    Belcarra 10k split 46:51

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,900 ✭✭✭KielyUnusual

Belcarra upping the pace a little for the 2nd 5K

    0-5: 23.44
    5-10: 23.07

Seems to be going to plan. On about 3.15 pace

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,059 ✭✭✭Pacing Mule

    Blockic

    5k 20:41
    10k 41:41 (21:00 5k)
    15k 1:02:34 (20:53 5k)

    Cragg in top 20

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,900 ✭✭✭KielyUnusual

There must have been a lover's spat between Blocky and Peckham. Peckham 15s faster on the last 5k. Always likely to happen. Both running different strategies RFR has accelerated again. 20.29 - 19.55 - 19.45 are his 5k splits so far

Blocky was going for a negative split which if he still is means by current times he is aiming a bit below the 3hr.

Really hope he smashes it. Thoroughly deserves it after Rotterdam.

    RFR through halfway in 1:24:3x
Duke of Dromoda half in 1:25:3x

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,059 ✭✭✭Pacing Mule

    Blockic

    5k 20:41
    10k 41:41 (21:00 5k)
    15k 1:02:34 (20:53 5k)
    20k 1:23:55 (21:21 5k)

    Halfways

    RFR : 1.24.31
    Peckham: 1.27.46
    Blockic: 1.28.34

RFR going very well. All of their last 5ks were slower. Maybe 15-20k is a tougher part of the course.
