Cheque clearance

    How long does it take for a cheque to clear? Put in a cheque on Monday and it is showing up on my account but doesn't seem to have cleared as I can't take any money out

    Thanks for the reply Tara, if the cheque was put in on Monday morning does Monday count as a day or when can I expect the money to be available?

    Hi,

    You're more than welcome. 

    The day a cheque is lodged is day one of the five day clearing process. This would mean your cheque would clear after close of business today and be available the next working day, which in this case is Monday. In saying this, sometimes the funds are made available over the weekend.
