Hi i am new to the home brew scene my first batch is bottled and almost ready to drink. So im just thinking of the next batches im going to make i was trying to think what would be the cheapest way to way a batch of cider.

Could i use something like this diluted apple juice http://www.tesco.ie/groceries/Product/Details/?id=255185891 and dilute it with water would work out cheaper then buying a load of cartons of apple juice.

Has anyone ever tried it ?
Would there be any reason that it would not work ?

Also when people are just buying a bit of home brew ingredients at a time were do they by them as i dont want to be paying a load on postage every time im buying a few euro worth of
    ingredients ?

Cider kit, I'd say. I made this and it was perfectly drinkable, if a bit sweet.

At best you'll get weak prison hooch; at worst preservatives will kill the yeast before it gets started.

Think you need a licence for spirits in Ireland, best sticking to the beer, cider & wine. It also doesn't go down well on this forum, might want to read the charter in the sticky threads :pac:

Edit: or am I wrong for this type of vodka kit??

    I think you're wrong.

Making spirits is fine, it's how it's made that makes the difference.

Fermentation is legal, distillation is not. This kit just uses fermentation with what is probably a yeast that has a very high tolerance to alcohol.

No idea how decent the alcohol it produces is.

I was wondering! Always wasn't too sure why there was the like of Vodka kits on Irish homebrew sites, and when I read distilling was illegal, I presumed that was the only way spirits were made. (Learn something new everyday)
