Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Removing keychain from minifig

If you, like me, have kids that love minifigs, you may have seen that Lego don't sell minifigs separately but they do sell keyring minifigs. There is a handy method of removing the bar that attaches the keychain to the minifig using a soldering iron. I have done it a few times and it has worked perfectly every time.
    You basically:
Cut the chain using a wire cutters or pliers, which leaves a small circular piece of metal protruding from the minifig's head. This is actually part of a metal bar that runs the length of the minifig's body.

Heat up your soldering iron, put the tip into the metal circle at the top of the head and apply some upward pressure while pulling the legs downwards with your other hand.

After a few seconds, the metal bar in the body will heat up and slowly begin to slide out of the body. It will be hot, so don't touch it!

When it is out, there will be a small hole at the top of the head. If you have a steady hand, you can seal this with the soldering iron.
