Laptop suddenly looking for product code

Hi all I hope someone can help.i turned on my laptop today and a message poped up saying that my vista home premium product key is invalid for activation.ive no idea what this means I've owned this laptop with a good few years from new .i looked on there sticker underneath the laptop but all numbers/codes have rubbed off.

Possibly get on to the manufacturer with the model & serial number and see if they can give you the MS Vista licence key.
