Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apologies as I know these pop up with all too much regularity. Basically I'm trying to decide between a number of bikes, as I'd like to get out at weekends and come Spring/Summer evening for some cycling.

I began cycling to work last year and use a Hybrid/City Raleigh Urban 3 that serves me well for that. Gave me the itch to get into it in my spare time/weekends but wasted my BTW on the commuter. Unfortunately got hit by a van on a cycle a few months ago so had to put it all to rest for the time being, but now the itch is back

I'm torn between 3/4 bikes. That are all in my size range (55/56 cm)

a 2011 Giant Defy 3, a 2013 Trek 1.2 or a 2010 (i think) Boardman Comp on sale here. They're the best three in my price range that I can find being advertised at present, there may be others. (fourth is the Triban, but I can at least check these out in person)

Apologies again for another one of these threads. I'll owe ye if ever I see anyone on a cycle

All reasonable bikes. If you're going to commute on it too select the one that'll take the widest tyres and has room for mudguards. Otherwise try them out and pick the one that feels most comfortable and that seems to have been looked after best.

Cheers for the reply. Got a good deal on a Trek 1.2. Happy with it, just need time off work to get out on it now and start saving for the inevitable upgrade
