    Hi!
    I am looking for an affordable tablet that would be used for Facebook/e-mail/boards/news sites and the odd video on YouTube. I am not into downloading movies/film's.
    The reason I'm posting here is because I have tried other sites and people keep on recommending dear tables that are fast and efficient.
    Anyone can recommend one?

    There's a thread just beside yours about the €35 tablet on for sale right now - delivery could take a while though.

    There was an ad on the TV yesterday for DID's sale advertising a Tablet for €50 (40 quid off apparently to bring it to that price).

    Not sure if it's any use, might be worth a peek for anyone else interested in the same thing as the OP.

    Edit: Looks like a pretty crap spec, but then, for €50...http://www.did.ie/e-star-7-internet-tablet-md7114-prd

    This also for €69 http://www.did.ie/gotab-7-8gb-tablet-gtb7-prd

    This. Could be a false economy buying cheap as there is a lot of rubbish out there.

    What is your budget?

    has anyone bought one of those cheap tablets and have it turn out to be usable?
    I would rather pay for something good when it comes to this kind of tech

    Yes. The one I have that looks very similar to the €35 one posted above. It's fine for giving to the kids to mess about with but the screen is rubbish (very limited viewing angle, scratches easily) and it tends to freeze quite a lot.

    My 3 year old plays (basic) games on it, and that's all it's good for IMHO.

    The lowest price 'high end' one you're going to be able to get is the Nook HD or the HD+;

    http://bookshop.blackwell.co.uk/jsp/editorial/browse/NOOK_HD_products.jsp

    You're sacrificing a camera, GPS and vibration, but the screen on them is one of the best around and both of them are quite speedy and reliable, great battery life. I own a Nook HD myself. At that price there are few products at a similar quality and competing spec. There's also the Tesco Hudl, but you'll have to get one from the UK.

    Thanks for the advice. I ordered one that somebody said should suit me. It was under 40 and it's meant to be grand. (well for what I want anyway)
