Best of luck to everyone on Monday

I'm running the half as a training run - my own goal this year involves a swim, cycle and an easy 26 miler at the end of July.

My goal is to "carry" my wife over the line. She is doing the full - her first - and I am going to be her carry-bag-man. I'll be loaded with gels, bananas, plasters, neurofen, vaseline and anything else she may need. I will meet her at the merge point (2 for me and 15 odd for her) and then the last 11 miles we do together.

Hopefully I can encourage her and help her to finish, and not annoy her too much. I'll be taking pics and video en-route, so if you are on the road side,be sure to wave and smile!

My most important job however will be getting the post-run drinks in.

I'm planning to run the first 8K of the half a few seconds faster than overall planned pace so as to have some time in the bank as the following 6K are rolling hills in which I know I will loose some time. Can't wait for it now, really excited to give it all.

Got a knee niggle and will have to take it easy initially but am hoping to beat this predicted time comfortably.

Hopefully haven't messed up the table anyway :)

Going for a sub 3:10 goal but will be happy enough with a new PB. My previous PB was set five years ago now and I've run some pretty woeful attempts since. If this one goes badly i'll probably retire from the 26.2 distance.

Looking forward to Monday now big time. Good luck to all running!

I'm not sure if I've done enough to sneak under 3 for this one, but if I can keep it steady for the first 20, I'll hopefully have enough to dig in and get it done. Looking forward to a few pints after anyway.

So, where we going drinking? I'm hoping to have a can or two enroute to the pub..

Any quick fixes on foot blisters Had a Compeed on it this last week, biggest one has popped, but still a gathering of small ones around it (3 or 4) Was hoping they'd be gone by now!
2 days to go.......best way to "encourage" them to go. Covered/uncovered? Pop/not pop? Any magic potions to soak feet in? Miracle cures?

    Help please!

This may help...........one of my posts, from a few years back. Very late to be dealing with them though....sorry. NB,wear your socks inside out = seams stitching, if any, on the outside!

The t shirts ain't half bad

The half is a red version if it. V nice also and I would wear training unlike many others that are never worn from other races

Those running the full have their name on their number this year but from what I saw at registration it's very small so may be hard to read

Nice t-shirt but no safety pins included with the number in the race pack and there is a famine of spare ones in City Hall. I managed to scavenge the last few going . Make sure you can attach your number today.

Just wondering if anyone knows does the black ash park and ride fill up quickly? Will there be parking there for the half and also for spectators that will be arriving later?

I ran the half last year, wife dropped me at Mahon and she and kids didn't hit the Park and ride until approx 10:30 and was no bother, she said it was about 2/3rds full at that point. Based on that, we think it'll be fine again this year and plan to hit it for 09:30, into town then for 10 at the latest.
I reckon you'll be fine but you might want to push your support not to leave it too late to be safe.
