    Hi eircom reps,

This is the typical speed we're getting from our broadband. I'm sure you'll agree, it's pretty dire!

Just wondering if there is anything that can be done to improve the service, or is this the best that can be provided? We're right beside the exchange in Murroe, Co. Limerick.

    Thanks :)

    Hi boomerang

I'm very sorry for this delay,

I've looked into this in details and I can confirm the reason for such speeds is because your broadband subscription is for up to 1mb download speeds.

1mb is not always achievable (very rarely will be) which is why speeds are advised and sold on the terms of 'up to' and as your line is connected to an exchange which is not upgraded to Next generation broadband your speeds will experience the effects of congestion.

Congestion basically means that when more people are online at the same time in your area this causes demand and slows speeds (which is why peak times after 6pm you may notice the slower speeds). Unfortunately there are no plans to upgrade your exchange at present.

I see your line can qualify for an upgrade to faster speeds should you wish to subscribe to them. To explore your options on increasing your speeds please contact our broadband upgrade team on free phone 1800503303.

    Thanks

    Al
