MP3/headphones while running

Apologies if this has been asked and answered. I searched but didn't find what I was looking for.

Anyone have recommendations on listening to music while running? I've had various headphones but most pop out when running, or slip out after a while due to sweat :o

I got a pair of headphones that hook over the ears but they are only so-so. I could use a hat or headband to keep them in place during winter running but that's not ideal for warmer days.

Plan to do more long-distance outdoor running this year so want to get a half decent solution.

I have an old iPod but would be open to upgrading that as well if there's a lightweight or easily-worn MP3 out there.

Sansa clip zip is what I use for running. buy a cheap micro sd card (32 gb) and stick it in it. great sound and has a built in clip to clip onto your shorts. light and tiny.

I prefer in-ear earphones for running. I use these ones. The cable goes over-the-ear they have a built-in cord slider to keep them firmly in place. They come with a variety of sizes of eartips and are durable. sweat doesn't really affect them much.

Thanks, those looks good. And you just drag and drop files from your computer, I suppose. One of the reasons I want a new MP3 player is iTunes slows down my PC.

Is this Sony Walkman too good to be true? Waterproof and very lightweight but maybe you don't have much control in terms of selecting songs. Seems ideal for swimmers but hopefully I won't spend that much time running in the rain!

yes drag and drop. don't know anything about those sony ones. not sure how they would work for running. also you won't be able to select songs / albums with the sony ones. also the memory is fixed at 4gb which is not a lot - 25 albums or so.

I use a sanza clip as well. Its a great wee device. Cheap, easy to use, the clip makes it very easy to attach to your clothes, there's also an FM radio on it.

You can get factory reconditioned ones on ebay really cheaply.

I find the apple earplugs never fall out for me

I have had these for a few years now after doing some research and they are fantastic, very cheap too and a lifetime warranty I think.

Google them and have a look at the reviews, they seem to very popular. I have started running recently and have found them perfect so far, I do like the look of that Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip 4GB MP3 Player though, might pick me up one of them!

I have these (just the regular 'inspire') earbuds:

    http://yurbuds.com/products/in-the-ear/

I love them! I used to find the Apple ones fine, but sometimes they'd blow out if I was running into a headwind or on a gusty day. These never do. I've had them since last June & use them a lot with no problems (I got them on wiggle.co.uk)

I have Yurbuds too, they definitely don't fall out.
Find the sound more muffled than sennheiser etc, But perfectly adequate for running.
    Elverys do them online,

Thanks everyone! I went with the SanDisk clip-on and a pair of basic Yurbuds. Due to arrive later in the week.
Running out excuses for not running...

good luck the sansa zip. would have gone with better-sound-quality in-ears though.

I ordered a pair of Yurbuds through Amazon (actually through a company with a shop on Amazon rather than Amazon itself) and they sent me the wrong ones. I had ordered black Ironman edition, they sent pink ones made for women.

Got a refund and am thinking of reordering either from Amazon or Elevery's.

Question: how do I know what size to order? On Amazon one of the Yurbuds products says it's size 5/7. I've no clue what that means! I reckon I need big ones for my great big man ears. Advice?

hi all, my recommendation from what i use are panasonic Rp-hs33. They are reasonably cheap and quality is medium. They are very durable earphones with a good ear clip. i also use an old ipod 2nd generation shuffle. The ipod has a strong clip and push buttons so accidental skip etc cant be made. As i run beside busy roads i use one earpiece while the wire runs down my sleeve to the cuff where the ipod is attached. This is the best configuration ive used over the years and it gives the best range of motion.

I use an Ipod Shuffle and Siennheiser CX685's!
The earphones are kinda pricey but its a good combo little or no cable rattle and they dont fall out also enough space to keep me happy on the Ipod shuffle!

I picked these up in a Dixons bargain bin going through the airport a few years ago.
Sound quality is fine, moldable ear hook means they never go anywhere and if I sneak out of work early for a run I listen to the radio using my BB I can answer a call on the run ;).
    Still available on overstock

'5/7' is the size that they use for Yurbuds. That particular model is only available with buds that are size 5 or size 7

    Men's range go 4 - 8. Most women's ears are 4 / 5.

The most perfect earphones you can get for running. This is after 3 different fad pairs that cost well over 100 euro each. They never ever fall out. Sound is great also.

I went with Yurbuds in the end. No sign of them falling out so far. Maybe sound could be better but I'm not that fussy. Worth the €25 I paid.

Also got a SanDisk factory repurposed MP3 player. Perfect. Light and easy to use with a handy clip. Cheap (£20 on Amazon)

Thanks for all the advice and ideas.

MEElectronics have a great range - looks like their sports model has had a slight upgrade from the one I own and now has a microphone for taking calls:

The standard model though can be got for half this price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0038W0K2K/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=electronics

Sorry to hijack your thread OP, but has anybody any experience with high end bluetooth/wireless headphones (in ear only) and if money wasn't an object for a pair that you'd get years out of, what would you buy?

Qualified reviews please as I've been looking for a pair for a while but would like some reports of actual usage factors/concerns etc.

    Thanks

Oh and sorry, but does anyone know the range with the bluetooth ones mentioned on this thread? Within a gym environment I would be moving from treadmill to other equipment. Could I assume they will work within say a 10 metre range approximately?

i have a pair of these for using the turbo trainer and they are ok. great battery, 6+ hours. they wouldn't be waterproof though. Plantronics do other sports ones.

I was in the same position. Bought the new ipod and the best pair of BT earphones I could get after all the research Jaybirds buds. I used to test BT earphones and headsets for a living and I use philips sweatproof earbuds and an 6th ipod nano, last gen with the clip or a Sansa Clip (both from ebay).

The 7th gen nano is junk and would never been released if jobs was around.

ipod 1-6th gen gets smaller and then it gets bigger wtf ?
