    Hi hi hi

Heading to Galway at the weekend. Excited. Do not know the place v well.

Any quirky things to do? Nice markets?

Staying in Salthill, not mad into boozing, we have a car so nearby recommendations?

Are there water activities in Salthill?
    such as kayaking?

    Thanks in advance people

There is a market in the weekend that has lots of food and various knick-knacks for sale. Walking around city centre and along the water to Salthill you'll bump in to all kinds of things but I wouldn't say there's anything "quirky" to see.

    I resemble that list! :-)

Have a great visit, OP, other options would be to head out along the coast to Spiddal and further.

    Canoe tours

There's also a place near Galway, water center I think- google it.

Bring your togs and wetsuit- go for a dip off the diving board in Blackrock, Salthill.

The Black cat in Salthill if you like Tapas.
Oslo in Salthill to read the paper while having a pint/cup of tea.

Walk from Salthill along the water to The Claddagh and into Galway city.
McDonaghs at the bottom of Quay street for chips.
They onto Neachtons pub on the corner- sit outside and watch the world go by.
Then up to the markets (Sat only) next to St Nics church.
Stroll up to Eyre Square, sit and relax.

Can also walk up along the canal (from The Claddagh) to the cathedral and back being Born along the Corrib.

If you like cycling rent a bike and cycle the back road by Knocknacarra out to Barna and then back into Salthill. Lovely, quiet countryside on the trip out and big downhill to barna and then back in the main road.

There’s a weekend craft market in Roisin Dubh upstairs.

What age group are you? Are you bringing kids?

If you're staying in Salthill, embrace The Promenade coz it's awesome.
