Just wanted to ask if I am allowed to install one in my own place? I have been told by my architect that this is not allowed however, there are lots of places selling this product. Anyone know any legislation in the city council website on this?

I don't know about the legislation, but in my opinion they should be banned!
If you do go ahead and fit one, make sure you have the number of a local drain cleaning company handy.
Drains, particulary 1.1/2" waste pipes are not designed to take what comes out the other end of these machines and the worse thing you could possibly put down them is egg shells.
