Hmm, 2nd image seems like it was Best actually.

However, a still image doesn't show what happened before Heaslip hit the deck. He could've touched it down and it squirted out. That's how I remember it. Really we need a slo-mo video.

Sorry about the quality of the pics but Heaslips Hands were not on the ball.
In the replay you can see him bringing back his hand afterwards and putting it on the ball.

The thing is that those pics were from after the initial grounding, (the ref was in the way of the camera properly capturing the touchdown), so I'm not sure that's the best evidence of Best scoring.

How did possession change from Heaslip to Best? Heaslip had the ball at the back of the maul seconds before touching down. Why would he attempt to pass it, and in a maul of all places? I think they just fell awkwardly

I had Heaslip in my team

One of the replay angles shows (I think) Heaslip passing it under to Best, I am guessing because Heaslip suspected that one of the Scotland players would eventually come in from the side (which they did) and his body would be protection for the ball carrier.

I personally thought it was Best, but it's a tough one to see.

If Heaslip is at the back of the maul wouldn't that be illegal?

Didn't notice there was a Boards league until now but I managed to luck-out and bag 88 points this week with Kearney, Heaslip, Vunipola, Cuthbert and Huget the main men.

    Up to 17th overall.

At the moment my plan is to pick the top 8 backrows and then change kicker/ backs based on who is against Scotland/Italy.

It's quite a poor Fantasy Team system compared to others and really depends on luck more than anything, but it does help spice up a game you might not have had much interest in.

Yea, if you had to pick the real positions, and you got points for more in-game events then it would be a lot more difficult.

It's difficult to do fantasy Rugby altogether. It is hard to quantify the majority of positions on the pitch. My fantasy pack is made up of four 8's :pac:

No issue so long as the ball remains off the ground and the players remain bound into the maul. Once the ball within a maul crosses the try line, the maul ceases to be.

I haven't looked back at it (and won't at the moment as I'm in work).

My recollection is that Heaslip was at the back of the maul. That would mean he would have to hold onto the ball at least until over the line no? If Best was behind/beside him fair enough but I was under the impression you can't even hand the ball forward.

With the benefit of Youtube on the phone, this is what I saw... Heaslip gains possession on the ground after the catch and players bind onto him. Best joins at the back and it moves forward very quickly and loses a lot of bodies en route, thus shrugging off the defending forwards. By the time it's grounded there's just two green shirts and two very loose Scottish shirts barely bound when the ball crosses the line and it's touched down before anybody knew it.

Bear in mind that during a maul the ball may be anywhere within the maul so more than one player can have a hand on the ball and from either team, so it's not exactly a bread and butter call for a referee to make.

I'm not very familiar with the new French players but judging by the stats I'd say he's a definite to be kicking.

Right, quick guess at the best team from today's two rounds. Dunno why I am posting it because it means little, but here it is.

3 Warburton (any full 80 Welsh forward)
3 Faletau (any full 80 Welsh forward)
3 Fusaro (any all 80 Scot forward)
    8 Henry
    8 POM

    6 Care
7 Sexton (Tecnically you could pick paddy, would have been inspired)

    13 Brown
    7 Burrell
3 North (any all 80 Welsh back)
3 Hogg (any all 80 Scot back)
3 Lamont (any all 80 Scot back)

So 67 was pretty close to the strongest return.

Nowell was worth 6, but picking him would have involved dropping Care, who was also worth 6, Care's next best alternative was Murray, who would have involed dropping an Irish player etc etc - It does work out if I allow you to pick Paddy Jackson and make Halfpenny your goal kicker, but I am not, because that would have been silly.

I'm hoping for at least 3 tries each from Bergamasco, Castrogiavanni, Fofanu, Laroux and Picamoles and MOTM picks aplenty today :pac:

Up to 137. Having a non player in round one didn't help, but got lucky that the original selection was solid enough. Completely forgot to fix when the teams were announced.

    132. POC and his chest infection costs me a few points week one. Too far back already I reckon.

I had Kelly Brown in my team. I didn't even check to see if Scotland dropped their captain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,620 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

120, bit devo. Huget not making the line himself and Dulin being held up cost me a fair whack of points.

I also need to stop picking George North, he's been anonymous.

3 Warburton (any full 80 Welsh forward)
3 Faletau (any full 80 Welsh forward)
3 Fusaro (any all 80 Scot forward)
    8 Henry
    8 POM
    7 Picamoles
    3 Parisse
    3 Furno

    6 Care
7 Sexton (Tecnically you could pick paddy)

    13 Brown
    7 Burrell
    13 Fofanna
    8 Bonneval
    8 Iannoe

Approximately although I did this quickly 100 points was the maximum achievable in round 2.

Surely Dussain at scrumhalf as your kicker

Doussain was worth 8, which is more than Sexton on 7 for sure, but to pick Dousain you have to drop Picamoles, which loses you 4 points overall, or Bonneval which also loses you a handful of points.

You can theoretically get more points I think if I allow you to pick Paddy Jackson at outhalf instead of Sexton though I think. There or there abouts.

The best thing I did was change my kicker from 1/2p in round 1 to Sexton in round 2.
Had a feeling we'd keep the penalty count down ( Though I didn't dream it'd be down as much as it was :D)

Ya I agree. That's actually pretty much identical to what I did. Kept Cuthbert and let North go, don't think he's as likely to score from 13, as he is on the wing

Switched Heaslip out for Healy on the chance we'll scrum well + do the flashy stuff. MOTM.

Took errlloyd's advice and put in Campagnaro :))

Kept Hog from last week. Fofana and Bonneval just because. Dave out for Trimble, Laidlaw for Philips.

Tempting to put in a sneaky Italian winger or Brown for Bonneval..

    Philips is on the bench.
