Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi All - I broke a handle in my heating system and I'm wondering what it's called as I asked our local plumbing suppliers and they tried to sell me part saying you cant just replace the handle ? Its the black handle in this picture below - it opens and closes a valve ? -

How much was the new valve? Why not buy the new one and just replace the lever.

It was part of a filling hose kit which cost €22 to buy - I thought it was a bit much when I only need a handle !

I am not sure, but I think that the lever off some of those similar cheaper valves would work. Bring the old broken lever to a hardware/plumbing shop and you should be able to get sorted out a lot cheaper than €22. If you dont have the broken one, take a good quality photo of the place the lever attaches with you.

You will have to buy a new kit or try a lever off a washing machine valve.
If you can change out the valve yourself just ask for a 1/2" copper to copper lever valve, it will just fit straight in where the fill loop valve is.

You really don't need the handle anyway. You should maybe only be using that valve once or twice a year anyway. Just use a small pliers when topping up the system
