Will be impressed if they have got US staff to extend hours considering comments made a few weeks ago in relation to USPC and the staffing problems.

Good to see the service anybody should be a good boost.

    So did it use clearance?

I don't think they were due to use pre-clearance straight away: "We are looking forward to being able to offer the time-saving US Pre-clearance service at the earliest opportunity."

I see make off they will be waiting quiet some time as the US are in no mood to increase staffing.

Does anybody know why EI385 from LHR to SNN is delayed 90 mins?

The flights to / from LHR are often delayed due to ATC delays in London area. Most likely answer, but I don't know for sure. Could be any number of reasons.

  • Registered Users Posts: 198 ✭✭Airbus330

The LHR service got messed up caused by the fact that EI used the EI110 a/c on the 102 to DUB. So they used the 384 to fly the NY pax to LHR to connect onward hence the additional LHR service this evening. It was an absolute mess and of course protecting the repuation of DUB services over SNN.

Is the normal morning Aer Lingus service to Heathrow normally on time anyone? I have a flight from T5 at 12.20. The Shannon flight gets in to T2 at 10.15. It will be a bit tight if there is a delay. Hard to know is it worth the risk.

I use it frequently and it is reliable, you should be off the aircraft by around 10am. I usually make the 1033 train from the airport including a bathroom stop and a call to cafe nero

In other news, Malaga service also being kept on for Winter, Tues and Sat

Great news! That's the BVA replacement. Good year for winter sun!

Not so bad, thanks. There is an earlier service to Stansted with Ryanair which would be an option also.

Remote air traffic control trial continues (Clare Herald)

Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Shannon and Cork Airports could, in the future, be managed from a remote centre at Dublin Airport.

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has successfully carried out a number of trials using a new a state-of-the-art system that would allow air traffic control
functions at Shannon and Cork airports to be undertaken from a remote centre in Dublin.

Dedicated pylon-type towers have been constructed at Shannon and Cork and will feed high definition imagery to a Remote Tower Centre (RTC) at Dublin Airport.

It does look rather impressive technology, could also be a good way in future to cut costs at regional airports as well.
