The increase on LHR and the returned BHX and EDI routes offsetting the loss on MAN?

Did a man get onto the runway in Shannon the other day because I'm hearing a lot of stories about it?

Anyone notice F-WNEW coming in around 11.30 this morning ?

First time I've seen the new A320 neo (maiden flight May 19th 2016) .....looks good ..... sounds good

Not close enough to Snn to see much but it certainly did a good few circuits ....

I wonder did Airbus do a bit of crosswind training yesterday too.

Jet diverts to Shannon amid fire fear (Clare Herald)

Open Skies (France) flight BOS-1, a transatlantic airline owned by British Airways, was travelling from Orly Airport in Paris to Newark in the US at the time. There were 89 passengers and a crew of 5 on board.

The Boeing 757-200 jet was about three hours into its journey when the crew turned around. The crew informed air traffic controllers they had a ‘wheel well fire indication’ and wished to divert and land as soon as possible.

Shannon Airport’s emergency crews were placed on standby while units of the local authority fire brigade from Shannon, Ennis and Killaloe along with a number of ambulances and garda units were also requested to attend.

The Kilrush RNLI lifeboat was also placed on standby as a precaution.

The flight made of low level pass over the runway at Shannon to allow air traffic controllers check that all the landing gear had deployed and the see whether there was any indication of fire.

After completing the fly pass the crew repositioned for a full-stop landing and touched down safely at 9.32pm.

Apparently so. It did some ILS circuits at Brest and then came to Shannon. Did crosswind ILS testing.

A380 did the same in 2006 as part of its certification.

So can we expect anything new to fill up the Ryanair schedule this summer?

With MAN down to 5pw, and NCE, PIS, BVA and possibly FMM cut, that leaves space for 10 weekly movements on two aircraft.

I'd be very surprised if FMM was cut as it is popular with tour packages from germany. Besides there is already lots of slack in aircraft schedules as it stands

A good season this year for ORD and Delta JFK services too

The airport has revealed a +5% increase in the US market for the first half of 2016.

Here the CSO figures from January to May.

Did United start lather in May this year? Didn't think AA started much earlier but quiet a good increase.
    ______

Just spotted MAN down to x4 in winter, even for FR I am a little surprised how poorly it's doing for them. They won't really be in a position to cut it much more and the times are not wonderful could we maybe eventually see an EIR base return.

Usually last week in May it starts.

Good to see improvements on BOS also

MAN service is very poor, for a few weeks in Nov/start of Dec there is no service Tues/weds/thurs, and expensive fares too. We will see what happens for S17

Could it be the terrible airport that MAN is? Flown out of it twice back to Shannon it both times had 30+ minute security waits. Facilities are very poor for the size and it was crowded and uncomfortable.

Talking to others that is not all unique perspective. I now actively avoid it and will use BHX in preference even if the prices are a little higher. Not worth the aggravation.

Its more Ryanair coming and ridding stobarts 3x daily service, then cutting it down to nothing when they're gone.

Waiting for Ryanair to put up flights from Shannon to Lanzarote for April 2017. They are available from Dublin already.

Aye, Ryanair definitely a double edged sword for an airport like SNN :(

Though it begs the question, is Stobart getting the numbers on BHX route which is partially in competition with MAN?

You'll be waiting for the full schedule to be released, a month or two.

The Boeing 787-800 jet was several hundred kilometres south west of Ireland when crew told controllers that they wished to divert and land at Shannon and requested an ambulance be on standby for their arrival.

    FR relasing summer 17 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,162 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Alot of Ryanair's Schedule has been loaded. (Was actually typing as Jamie2k9 posted!)

Doesn't look very good to be honest.

    Alicante - 2pw - Tuesday/Saturday - Based Aircraft
    Berlin - Not Loaded
    Faro - 3pw - Monday/Wednesday/Friday - Based Aircraft on a Wednesday
    Fuerteventura - 1pw - Thursday - Based Aircraft
    Kaunas - 2pw - Thursday/Sunday - Based Aircraft on a Sunday
    Krakow - 2pw - Tuesday/Saturday () -Based Aircraft
    Lanzarote - 2pw - Monday/Friday
    Gatwick - 7pw - Everyday - Based Aircraft
    Stansted - 12pw - 2x Mon/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun - Morning flight based
    Malaga - 2pw - Monday/Friday - Based Aircraft
    Majorca - 2pw - Wednesday/Sunday - Based Aircraft
    Manchester - 4pw() - Monday/Thursday/Friday/Sunday - Based on MON/THURS/FRI
Memmingen - Not Loaded (Probably dropped)
Paris - Not Loaded (Probably dropped)
    Tenerife - 1pw - Thursday - Based Aircraft
    Warsaw - 2pw - Wednesday/Sunday - Based Aircraft
    Wroclaw - 2pw - Monday/Friday - Based Aircraft

So, overview. Loss of 9, possibly 11 weekly flights as opposed to last summer.

    Changes

*Alicante moves from Wednesday/Sunday to a Tuesday/Saturday and now utilises a based aircraft both days.

*Berlin isn't loaded, hopefully it's not dropped, its a great route to have.

*Faro is now on a SNN based aircraft on a Wednesday

*Krakow moves from the wonderful Monday/Friday slot to the route killing Tuesday/Saturday slot. Great way to butcher a route. Lets hope it will return back to Monday/Friday for the winter.

*Lanzarote is now 2pw for the whole summer, instead of just June-September. The days are also now Monday/Friday, so a little better. The only bit of positive news here.

*London Stansted now loses the second flight on a Tuesday and Wednesday, and the third flight on a Friday and Sunday is also gone, a loss of 4 flights per week.

*Manchester has been reduced even further to 4pw, the Saturday flight now cut out. Absolutely disgraceful for a service that was once 3x daily. You see the real legacy of Ryanair with this route.

*Memmingen has not been loaded, and looking at the based aircraft schedule it won't be, its time slot is gone.

*Paris is also cut, but we knew that.

Since 2015, when the peak of Ryanair services were seen, we have gone from 66 weekly flights, to 48 weekly flights and lost 5 of those routes.

Another lesson for Shannon. Ryanair growth never lasts long. Outlook still positive this year?

Good summary but some of the based a/c marks are incorrect, Lanzarote not based for example

Oops, I even knew that. Flick of the brain I'm afraid :(

Everything else is based on at least one flight.
