What would you suggest doing to keep the loonies out? A concrete prison type wall?

It's very easy to gain through any airport perimeter fence if you really want to.

Yes it easy to gain access. But if you task 2-4 soilders with protecting something their within 5-10 meters of and they fail miserably, I mean they failed in their duty. .

Even the last incursion at 06:30 is being dealt with lightly. If I hadn't of been pulling into work and heard the stress the star air freighter or ASL was under as it aborted landing having saw them next to runway, i'd be less critical.

Yes Shannon APO staff have doubled or tripled patrols noticeably since that event. And I'm not blaming them

Good old UN Dr Ed hey. He told the judge to basically do one, and Judge King did. Oh too be part of the establishment.

Kuwait won't be stopping their stopover at Shannon for the foreseeable future.

To be honest, it seems like the one organisation made up the rumour, postponed it and then cancelled it. I've not personally read any comment by Shannon, Kuwait airways or Stansted on the matter.

Wouldn't be too hard to improve on the outdated menu that was in the old bar anyway. Best of luck to them.

Delta's service to JFK resumes tomorrow.

Also note that several schedule changes are now in place in order to facilitate the runway works. Some I've noticed are

    EI110 JFK-SNN arriving at 06:30 instead of 06:00,
Krakow, Warsaw and Fuerteventura departing and arriving about an hour earlier.

What were the passenger numbers in Jan and Feb 2017?
How do they compare to the first 4 months of 2016?

Easter was in March last year.

Well aware of that thanks. The fall is still concerning for an airport that is apperently growing so well as you'd be led believe.

And it was up 7% in April. Which had Easter in it this year. It's clearly obvious that Easter makes a huge difference.

The up was inflated by April being the summer season.

Also worth noting that Kuwait are increasing these figures alot, but despite this march still had a loss of passenger numbers. Would April also have without this Kuwait service?

Edit : it'd still be growth, but it'd be +2.5% (rough) as opposed to +7.2%.

    March would be down -9.1%

Fog causing issues this morning again, with low viz system turned off for duration of runway resurfacing. The two aer lingus us flights circled for a while and had a good look before landing. Fedex gone too Dublin again. They'll probably be happy too see a little rain tomorrow. Good weather this time of year always brings the fog in the am.

Rare enough occurrence, if anything I'd say it'll.be the only fog related issue of the whole project, fog is quite uncommon May-September (fog isn't particularly common at Shannon at all), which is why they're doing the works in the summer.

If interested, the reason for this morning's fog is high humidity as we are leaving the 'heatwave'. Expect it to cloud over today and possible rain this evening and tomorrow.

Passenger dies on flight that diverted to Shannon (Clare Herald)

Yesterday, Air Canada flight AC-849 from London’s Heathrow Airport to Toronto in Canada diverted to the mid-west airport after the crew declared a medical emergency.

The Boeing 777 jet was about 400 kms north west of Mayo when the crew turned around. The flight rerouted to Shannon with cabin crew members battling to resuscitate the elderly woman.

British Airways did a fuel stop at Shannon yesterday while routing from Paris to San Francisco.

I wonder did they avail of the US preclearance facilities too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 99 ✭✭Ennisman

It was an Open Skies (France) flight. Wouldn't have used pre-clearance. Was scheduled to fly via Iceland originally.

According to a post on pprune, Lufthansa used an A320 instead of the usual A319 on the Frankfurt flight yesterday due to high loads. Very encouraging if true.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭Brennans Row

They did use an A320 aircraft (D-AIUJ) yesterday, it would be nice to see it as a reflection of bookings.
