Jet makes emergency landing at Shannon (Clare Herald)

United Airlines flight UA-17 was travelling from Heathrow in London to Newark in the US at the time. There were 216 passenger and crew on board.

The flight was just 30 minutes into its journey and was approaching the Irish coastline when the crew declared an emergency. The crew reported a pressurisation issue and requested permission to divert to Shannon.

I see that a second United Airways UA2792 landed at Shannon later.

    Probably to pick up passengers?

Pax sent to hotels. With 193 on the plane that diverted, there must have been a lot less on this evening's UA941 from LHR-EWR because they cancelled the flight and sent the aircraft here.

    http://www.clare.fm/news/medical-emergency-forces-transatlantic-flight-to-divert-shannon/
A transatlantic flight has diverted to Shannon Airport after a crew member was reported to have fallen ill.

Delta Air Lines flight DL-81 was travelling from Brussels in Belgium to Atlanta in the US. There were 136 passengers and crew on board.

It’s not yet clear whether the ill crew member is one of the pilots or a flight attendant. The crew declared a medical emergency and told air traffic controllers that the crew member was ‘very ill’.

The flight was about two hours into its journey when the crew contacted air traffic controllers to advise them of their emergency. The crew requested permission to turn around and divert to Shannon requesting emergency medical services to be standing by for their arrival.

The Boeing 767-330 jet landed safely at 2.23pm and was met at the terminal by ambulance paramedics and a doctor.

The flight has been cancelled and passengers will be accommodated in local hotels overnight.

They are expected to continue their journey tomorrow.

It was the pilot, he was taken to the regional in Limerick.

Cabin crew member I believe. Unless there was a third pilot on board, two landed the aircraft.

As per marno21 on another thread, "WW625 BCN-KEF turned around off the coast of Mayo and diverted to Shannon, landing around 2am. No reason yet for diversion"

Also just coming in ASL 747 - OE-IFB freighter which is a regular visitor so could be diverted to collect something?

    05 Jun 2018 Liege (LGG) New York (JFK) 3V10 - 5:05 AM 3:58 AM 7:00 AM

WW625 diverted to Shannon because of weather issues at Keflavik. Due to depart at 17.30.

Aircraft investment firm to establish base at Shannon's aviation centre (Limerick Leader)

Leading aircraft investment specialist and advisory firm Stratos is to establish a base at the International Aviation Services Centre (IASC), run by the Shannon Group.

The move will see Stratos bring six employees to Rineanna House, a five-story office building in the Shannon Free Zone that is operated by Shannon Group’s property subsidiary, Shannon Commercial Properties.

The Shannon Group said the move was the latest sign of the attractiveness of the IASC as an international cluster for the industry. Stratos provides acquisition, re-marketing, advisory, capital raising services and portfolio servicing to airlines, lenders and investors in large commercial aircraft – a suite of high-end services new to IASC that will add to the wider stock companies located there.

Over the past three years, the Stratos team has financed, placed and sourced $2bn worth of aircraft, and raised or traded over $700m in commercial aircraft-backed debt.

On the equity side, Stratos has sold, dry leased, financed (SLB) and purchased 54 large commercial aircraft, including 11 which are managed by Stratos in-house lease management team with a value of over $1bn.

Anyone know how the Shannon-Liverpool flights are doing? Saturday at 22:20 is a bizarre time for this flight.

Been checking the seat maps (which are fairly accurate on ryanair, for the record) for all the flights, personally i dont see this route being on the Summer 2019 programme . when i checked todays LPL-SNN earlier today for example, there were 46 reserved. perhaps somebody who works in the airport would be able to give exact figures

That's brutal but what you'd expect for a Saturday night LPL flight. Friday evening/Saturday morning/Sunday evening flights would be packed to the rafters. Even the Saturday LPL flight from Knock leaves at 15:35 and is usually full - it was the last time I took it.

Not just poor loads for saturday, but all days

LPL last night had 38 pax inbound and 41 out.

81 inbound last Wednesday with 82 outbound.

159 inbound last Monday and 132 out.

The Saturday flight will pick up once the football season starts as people will use it for Sunday matches. Or fly to MAN on Saturday morning and back from LPL on Saturday night. I would love to see it stay year round.
