Five weeks on, has construction on the new hangar finally started?
I believe they've started preliminary work for the hangar.

If I'm interpreting this properly, then the background in this image shows the construction work on the site of the new hangar.

DB Schenker announcement a ‘huge boost’ for region (Shannon Chamber)

The announcement of a major expansion by German-owned logistics company, DB Schenker involving a doubling of its facilities and workforce at Shannon Free Zone is highly significant for the Shannon Region, according to Shannon Chamber.

DB Schenker is to invest €10 million in the provision of an additional 55,000 sq ft plant due for completion by late 2020. The expansion will more than double its existing capacity and lead to an increase in the workforce to around 100 people, effectively doubling its existing staff numbers.

The planned expansion will incorporate a high-bay temperature-controlled warehouse and 15,000 sq ft of offices, Ray Hennessy, CEO of DB Schenker Ireland said.

Hope to they attract more cargo aircraft to Shannon.

Medical emergency and weather diversions at Shannon (Clare Herald)

Brussels Airlines flight SN-552 was travelling from Toronto, Canada to Brussels in Belgium when the crew declared a medical emergency at around 4.15am.

Later, a FlyBe flight from Manchester to Ireland West Airport in Knock diverted to Shannon because it was unable to land due to poor visibility.

A Ryanair flight form Liverpool to Knock was also forced to divert to Shannon because of low visibility. Passengers from both flights were transported by bus to Knock Airport.

Earlier, the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard helicopter was unable to land at University Hospital Galway because of poor visibility in the area. The crew of Rescue 115 was tasked to undertake the medical evacuation mission from Inishboffin Island. The crew decided to fly to Shannon Airport where National Ambulance Service paramedics were waiting to transport the patient to University Hospital Limerick.

No mention of it in the Herald, I wonder was it a fuel stop?

Yes the Azur was a planned fuel stop.

The UK Airport Provisional Statistics for September and October are out.

For some reason the figures for Bristol in September are still not available.

Guessing all the route announcements are more or less done for S19 bar Ryanair pull a stunt in February like they did last year, disappointing that there’s still no viable connection to Mainland Europe. In other news Helvetic have pulled ZRH for S19

Arguably the polish routes achieve connections to mainland Europe, however I assume you mean more in a western Europe sense.

I don't know what all the boasting from the airport is all about. Have to go to Dublin to get to the Munster Heineken Cup match in Gloucester on Friday. Nothing for the next Liverpool Champions League match. Nothing there for Cheltenham in March.

There are very few flights that suit people, getting to France/Holland/Germany from Shannon is impossible

If only the airport had a daily flight to Birmingham!

Is the first part of your comment referring to the UK flights?

For the France/Holland/Germany bit, we've had flights to all of these countries, all of which have failed. We do have Germany (FRA) but that's mainly an inbound tourist flight, hopefully to be expanded on.

I was hoping Liverpool would return but don't think it will happen, passenger loads last year were pathetic because the times weren't worth it for anyone.

The times for the new East Midlands service are pretty diabolical as well.
