It’s relocated to old heritage shop beside it for a few weeks while renovations are being carried out.

Ah good, I was shocked that it would ever close.

As stated, not closed down. It just moved 15 ft to the left.

Oh? I wasn’t any where near the heritage store, just on the right hand side of WHSmith in arrivals. Seen it shuttered down and thought it was closed down

It's little wonder Norwegian suspended the SWF service with those figures, it was daily for all of November?

5166 pax for the month is 86 per flight or 46% load factor. It was always ambitious to be fair, 2/3x per week would have been far more appropriate.

All the same, that's impressive growth for EI on the JFK route given the capacity Norwegian had on offer too, even accounting for the drop in capacity with United not offering Newark this November.

Management at Shannon Airport have been asked to submit a detailed plan on connecting the airport to a major European Hub

Since when is LHR not a major hub? International travel via LHR will still be possible post Brexit.

3x daily to LHR is fantastic hub access

If LHR ceases to meet this criteria then we have bigger problems than Shannon's hub accesss

Campaigning for access to another hub will likely just dilute LHR demand similar to what happened with Air France in Cork coming in and EI dropping a LHR rotation

He might also remember that in the summer Shannon has access to hubs at JFK, BOS, EWR, PHL and YYZ which is fantastic for an airport of Shannon's size

Dublin is also a major European hub. Be some craic if they came back and told him to connect to that.

A major European Union hub is what they want.

A major European Union hub is what they want.

    Why?

Matters not to transit passengers AFAIK.

An E190 operating a Thursday service, as well as the A319 on Saturday.

It'd be great if IAG responded by adding an ATR42 or similar between Dublin and Shannon to stop Lufthansa taking Customers from them. Without looking for a PSO handout would be super.

I'm not even going to start explaining all the reasons why that won't happen and why it's a bad idea.

No business case for internal flights.
Hence Donegal and Kerry are subsidized.

Editing to remove the possible sarcastic tone, it wasn't intended. Apologies.

This is a discussion forum. There is little point coming on and posting that you won't discuss.

No business case for internal flights?
    Is that so?
I can't convince my co-workers to visit Ireland because of RHD cars. They'd hire a car for short trips around their destination but a few hundred kilometres across Ireland to reach the midwest is something that makes them opt for another holiday destination.

If Ireland was a LHD country you'd have well-to-do European families visiting.
The people of the Midwest can meanwhile look on at Dublin getting all the tourism.
So I'm not saying Ireland should convert to LHD or pay for PSO which always turns in to rent seeking but having planes flying in to Shannon associated with Alliances increases the potential for high quality tourism to the Mid-West.
As an example you can book a flight from Turin through Frankfurt to Shannon.
The destinations page on Shannon Airport's web page doesn't show any direct connection to Italy.

Are you suggesting that such a connection is direct? It's only direct if you stay on the plane, that would be a full blown connection. I don't see why the airport would have up all the connections you can made, they're extremely large in number and change frequently. Only non-stop routes are shown on the website.

Why don't you look at Lufthansa's website for flights like a prospective tourist would do and see what you get.

You realise the sheer amount of connections offered through Heathrow, JFK, Newark, Boston and Philadelphia are significantly larger and much more important to the airport. However are you suggesting that Shannon Airport detail every airline and route that you can connect to on their website, and then to keep it up today?

They're running an airport, not Skyscanner!

    You are being intentionally obtuse.
The Lufthansa service is a model which has promise. Not only can you get to Shannon from Frankfurt but from anywhere in the Lufthansa booking engine that can be offered by the logic of the booking engine. Now, if Shannon had an ATR42 from IAG that would open up huge opportunities through their booking engine

So you want the site to show you can get from Shannon to Abu Dhabi? Even though it might contain 2 stops you can still get there? That makes no sense at all. Every airport website shows the *direct* flights they can make. Airlines do what they want but why would a airport show they fly to somewhere that they dont?
They show their direct connections as that's the most sensible thing to do.

Sorry if I'm understanding you wrong but that's how I read it
